THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE - VETERANS DAY 2025

In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: “To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…”

The original concept for the celebration was for a day observed with parades and public meetings and a brief suspension of business beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The Doughboy Foundation is hosting the traditional Bells of Peace Ceremony at the National World War I Memorial today at 11:00 a.m. If you are in DC, please join us in person; if you can't be here, be sure to tune into the livestream at:

Puxico R-8 School District proudly honors our U. S. Veterans today. 🇺🇸

To all the brave men and women who have served—and to the families who stand beside them—thank you for your courage, sacrifice, and dedication.

We invite all veterans, families, and community members to our Freedom Assembly today at 1:30 PM in the Puxico gymnasium. Please join us as Puxico HS Student Council, our students, and staff express gratitude and celebrate your service. Lunch will be provided at noon by our local FCCLA chapter for Veterans and their guest.

Veterans free breakfast this morning at Casa Lopez in downtown Puxico! Great breakfast buffet; biscuits and gravy, hash browns, eggs, sausage, bacon, cheesey hash brown casserole, cinnamon rolls, and coffee of course. A huge thank you to Edwin and Jessica! And, a shout out to our "server" for all her help, thank you Karen Graham!
