Free summer meals located throughout Wake County for children 0-18. Many of these locations also have activities for the kids to do! This program is funded by the USDA. No registration or ID is needed.

With EOG (end of grade) testing coming up please remember:
🩵 One score does not define your child.
🩷 One score does not show future potential.
💜 One score cannot adequately account for all of the growth they’ve made over the year.
💚 EOG test do not account for gains in social skills, friends made, behavior regulation strategies learned, fine motor skills mastered, and so much more.

Remember to celebrate the little victories. Remember that no one score can possibly define who your child is and what they are capable of.

If they need more support, that can be addressed (and I can help), but enjoy the great things that a silly score can’t tell you.

I spent the last day of this year finishing this book. It took me longer to read than I anticipated for a variety of reasons. As a person with a disability, it’s so hard to read about how many people had to fight for so long for simple rights. It also reminded me of how far we have to go.

I am so grateful for activists like Judy Huemann who tirelessly advocated for the things I reference so often when working with my families like section 504 and IDEA.
