So much has taken place since my last post. Lloyd has done very well eating. He has gained 15 lbs. Today we see Dr. Overton due to some leakage. Talking will be a slow process as Lloyd works with the therapist. I praise the Lord for protecting Lloyd while I got Covid. It has been a hard few weeks. A big thank you to Robbie Rogers, Diana Mills and Jeanine Qualliotine for bringing meals for Lloyd and I during this time. I am over the worst part and gaining my strength back. My son, Mark Dillon brought me our famous homemade Cinnamon Rolls that took great care of my nausea. Thank you all for your continued love and prayers. We love you all!

Today Lloyd gets his voice back! He will have surgery at 1:00. What an amazing journey for this wonderful man God gave me. He is eating so well and has gained 10lbs. He was joking on the way to be prepped for surgery trying to say he’s going to drive me crazy talking. I’m so excited for him! Bring it on babe.

We are thrilled to say that Lloyd has been enjoying eating and has already put on 7 lbs! The traditional cinnamon rolls made by Mark was what he was most excited about and had missed. On January 10th he will have his second surgery to put the voice prosthesis in so he can learn to talk again. Several of us have teared up watching him eat and praise God for his healing so quickly. As we move forward we continue to ask for prayer. I will be leaving for 10 days while his sister Kathy Dillon Hoke is coming to stay and they are looking forward to football games, puzzles, reading and enjoy this time together. I will be going with Robbie Rogers and Danny Rogers to Florida to celebrate Dan’s 70th birthday! Looking forward to eating great seafood. We love you all and really appreciate all the cards, love shown and prayers you have done for us. Thank you so much!

Lloyd and I want to say thank you again for your concerns and prayers. We got the go ahead from Dr. Overton to start eating soft foods. I smiled at Lloyd and said, babe cookout? Vanilla, peanut butter, fudge and banana milk shake was our first stop after his Dr. visit. The pictures are of resent activities and my first grocery list for Lloyd in 4 years. I was so happy. Football games with food!!! Thank you Jesus. He can only do small amounts at a time but he can taste which he was told that would not be able to. Swallowing is hard and feels strange to his body. This will take time. His biggest excitement our Christmas morning tradition: His mom taught him how to make her homemade cinnamon rolls. Now with one hand Lloyd taught Mark, our son how to make them. This will be such a blessing for all of us to see Lloyd get to enjoy these amazing Cinnamon Rolls!

PTL…Lloyd passed his leakage test. However there is no movement in his esophagus. The second test is going to be done as an outpatient on day 10 to see what textures of food he can tolerate. For now we are rejoicing that the surgery was a success, no infections, leaving to go home tomorrow and can drink clear liquids for the first time in four years. My brain is in overload so please keep praying for me. Remember Lloyd only has one hand so he will be stuck with me more than usual for 6 weeks while healing takes its course. The next phase should get easier. We are so so grateful for all of your prayers and seeing God work. The updates will be less for now. When he goes back on day 10 I’ll be posting. So much to be thankful for. We love you all so much and your encouragement has been such a blessing. 💕

Our sons were able to go and visit with Lloyd and what a great visit is was for all of them. We got more great news from Dr. Overton’s speech Pathologist. Today they are doing the swallow test. Three things they are looking for is leakage, liquid going to the stomach and the amount of his swallowing capability. If today is successful My Hero is to come home tomorrow!!!! WHAT? No way, he’s supposed to be in there another week. Prayer warriors, God is working this test today was not suppose to take place until next week. Pray for today. I need prayer for when Lloyd comes home. We will have Home Health that come in, but I have to say I’m a little nervous. I have a hard time remembering everything they are trying to teach us. I am a visual learner so youtube here I come. Thank you again for all of your prayers. If you would like to send a card to Lloyd for encouragement I know that would mean a lot to him. 5708 Creekfall Lane, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526. Blessings to all!

One day at a time. I’m pray that when I’m tired that I don’t miss the miracles happening in front of my eyes. Today, Lloyd is sitting up and already testing out the beginning stages of a artificial Larynx. We are getting a lot of training and teaching us basic steps in this new way of life. Dr. Overton said he thinks they can do a swallow test on Friday. This is 2 days ahead of schedule. He said Lloyd is doing really well and the healing is going good. It’s still a wait and see after the swallow test to see when he can come home. Right now we need continued prayer for no infections, stable blood pressure (this is an on-going health problem with His condition) Hey let’s ask God to heal his BP and use of his right arm too!!! His oxygen has stayed normal. That’s a miracle…before surgery he had to use oxygen. He is so thankful as I am for all of your support and prayers. I’m sorry some people are not seeing the post at times. I keep getting a message from Facebook that they are blocking post even on our private page. Lloyd is excited because our sons are going to get to visit now. I’ll try to update as much as I can. Thank you all so much.

May I never doubt what the Lord can do. All of your prayers were heard. Dr. Overton was amazed. I got a call at 10:30 saying the Dr. needed to see me in the waiting room area. I ran thinking something was wrong and at that very minute, my friend, Diana Mills arrived just in time to go with me and had already been screened. We get there and I sat down and he said. Well, we are done! It was expected to take 6 hours and it only took 3 hours. He couldn’t believe it. He said that it went really well. I told him hundreds were praying for him. They did not even have to graft skin for muscle as expected.
Now, prayer warriors we need no infection to set in. This is what the doctor is over concerned about is infection setting in. He has to be in the hospital 7-12 days to be watched carefully. He and I will be with physical therapist in training him how to swallow after he leaves the hospital. In 6 weeks he gets the voice prosthesis. So no voice for this amount of time. (We are prepared though. Lloyd bought a notebook, downloaded an app and speaks for him with what he types in). This total Laryngectomy will serve several purposes as it cures sleep apnea, and no more aspiration pneumonia. Oxygen may still be needed. To God be the Glory.
