Kung fu is so much more than physical exercise

Throughout the years I was able to train under my sifu, he taught me so many life lessons that I’m now starting to appreciate even more .
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I used to give my attention to so many things and people that didn’t serve me, that were draining , and that didn’t nurture my light.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yet, with every year I start to realize how much actual control I have over who and what can influence me and it’s incredibly freeing .

I know the day before thanksgiving can always be stressful , but if you are celebrating the day, make sure you take time for yourself today.

Make sure you’re breathing when you get stressed and if heated arguments occur tomorrow , excuse yourself and step away.

One of the things I’ve promised myself is to start playing more.

When you hear “play” you immediately think of children on a playground or kids banging on toys , being happy and carefree. You rarely think of adults .

We should fix that.

Being high strung and stressed out is so bad for you, while being silly and enjoying yourself (responsibly lol) only has the negatives of people staring. Which honestly isn’t always a bad thing 🤷🏽‍♀️.

My mood is so highly influenced by the sun, so I try to take advantage of it anytime I can.

A mindfulness exercise I love is sitting in front of a large window or outside and feeling the sun on my skin. What a beautiful way to be present 🧘🏽‍♀️.

Where is your focus ? 🤔

One of the things I’ve struggled with my entire life is being a perfectionist .
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Everything had to be perfect, or it didn’t get done , meaning ...a lot ain’t get done 😅
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I would spend days ruminating before a performance , exam etc and could not enjoy my day to day experiences.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I didn’t enjoy the sun on my skin, the scent of the roses along my walkway, or the simplicity in the silly daily conversations with my friends .
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I wasn’t present , and in those moments, I wasn’t happy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s easy to focus on wanting to make your footprint on history , wanting to help as many people as possible etc. but isn’t it easy to get caught up in the destination and not the journey ?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I challenge you to enjoy the little things today.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When you come across something difficult think, “Is this a real problem ?” If so how can you fix it ? If not , let it go love .

If you are a perfectionist or grew up constantly wanting to please everyone, you probably give yourself a hard time when you’re not 100%.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But you shouldn’t 💕
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lately a lot of people have been talking about constantly being a better person than you were the day before , and that’s amazing but it can be harmful depending on how it’s interpreted .
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just because you killed it at work yesterday doesn’t mean you will today and that doesn’t mean you are “less than” today.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Being “better than yesterday” can mean giving yourself grace when you mess up , taking time to breathe during those moments that , quite frankly, suck and then moving on to your next task.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Success shouldn’t be measured solely by your “work output” or how many items you check off of your checklist. Rather than that, try to focus on things like : “when my boss snapped , did I let that influence my emotions?”, “did I do the best I could with the energy that I had?” , “did I take care of myself today?”.

A lot of things in life are outside of our control, try not to measure yourself worth by how much you produce. We’re not robots 😉.

Leveling up my smoothies❗️❗️

About a week ago , I made a seamoss gel and I've been using it in my juices and smoothies daily to try and help with my autoimmune difficulties. And alhumdulillah I'm seeing some slight and very noticeable changes!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The purple ice cubes you see is the pulp from previous juices, a combo of beet , apple, and ginger 😋 adding more fiber and wonderful micronutrients to my smoothies!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now lets talk about sea moss!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sea moss either Chondrus Crispus (the real irish moss) or strains of Gracilaria are powerhouses of micronutrients and serive as prebiotics (basically food for probiotics) and have reported antioxidant properties!

Please do your own research and consult a medical professional if you want to start using it in your diet !

Additionally , if a company is saying that they are selling you Chondrus Crispus and they are not sourcing it from off of the atlantic coast of the British Isles, North America or Europe, it's likely from the Gracilaria family.

Do you find yourself having a hard time focusing , even when doing simple tasks?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It may just be because you don't dedicate enough time to being still, an aspect of self care that I don't see many people talk about. So, lets talk about it 😏.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stillness is not just not moving or being immobile, but rather an energetic state of being, of wholeness, of being free from the distractions of every day life, of being fully "conscious" ( I can go down a whole rabit whole on consciousness lol).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And that can be uncomfortable, esepcially at first! But no one grows by being comfortable 💕.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of the ways I heard this explained that deeply resonated with me was by Eckhart Tolle , author of "The Power Of Now".
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Eckhart Tolle describes achieving this state of stillness, or rather consciousness through stillness as the dissapearance of white noise.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We never really hear the buzzing of our air conditioner, or heating in the house, until it goes away, and then, in that moment there's a brief moment of peace.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Funnily enough, that exact thing just happened while I was typing this. I see you God 🥰🤲🏽.

How to Stay Consistent:

Forming healthy and positive goals is tough, if it wasn't everyone would be walking around with their lives all the way together.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Although no one is, having tools to help your life go more smoothly can help increase the fluidity and peace in your life!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And that is where the pivot comes in
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pivot instead of quitting
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If a move is too difficult, don't beat yourself up, just modify it
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you can't get everything done on your list, don't stress, add it in to tomorrow.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Being able to shift your mindset not only helps reduce stress in your life, but it helps you be kinder to yourself.
