I realized it’s been a while since I properly re-introduced myself, so here we go…

I’m Kayla, the owner of Kayla Cares LLC, and I provide personalized, in-home caregiving right here in the Black Hills. My heart is in helping families feel supported, heard, and confident that their loved one is truly cared for — not just “checked on.”

Whether it’s companionship, meals, light housekeeping, transportation, or just being a steady, familiar face, I’m honored to do this work every day.

On a personal note, life has been full lately in the best way. 💕
Matt and I just celebrated one year of marriage, and we recently added a sweet puppy to our little family making us a family of 4. Between work, home, and everything in between, I’m so grateful for this season of growth and gratitude.

Thank you to every family who has trusted me, supported me, and cheered me on. You truly mean more than you know. So many of you have welcomed me into your homes and lives in ways that go far beyond “work” — you’ve made me feel like part of your family, and I carry that with me every single day. 💜

Communication isn’t always spoken.

Every time he sees me, he smiles and claps, and it reminds me why I do what I do. Over time, I’ve learned the little things that make him happy, the things that overwhelm him, and the ways he asks for attention in his own unique way.

Today I had a moment that reminded me why accessibility matters so much.

While working with one of my clients, I needed to pull a wheelchair-accessible van into a designated handicap parking spot. Unfortunately, the space was blocked by a USPS vehicle. When I politely asked the driver if they could move so I could safely assist my client, I was told they were “busy.”

As a caregiving business, accessibility isn’t optional — it’s essential. These spaces are reserved for a reason. They ensure dignity, safety, and independence for the individuals who rely on mobility devices and accessible transportation.

This is just a reminder to please keep handicap spaces clear, even for a moment. You never know who may need that space — or how much it matters.

Ive been MIA working and writing something very close and dear to me. So id like to announce a story coming soon-My Dad’s Story, the sacrifice, fight and suffering
Enjoy the prologue.
Growing up, my dad was always a hard worker. In my early childhood, he worked multiple jobs and long hours to make sure I had what I needed. Later, he earned his CDL and became a logger while we lived in Washington. In 2006, he made the jump to Wyoming and started working in the oilfield.
I remember my dad putting in countless hours, missing many big milestones in my life. He poured his heart into providing so that his wife at the time and I could rodeo and have the horses and life I had always dreamed of. I never once heard him complain about the moments he missed, but I know it weighed heavily on him.
Now, after years of hard work and sacrifice, my dad faces a new challenge. In August of 2022, he suffered a serious fall after stepping down from a truck bed. The impact sent a jarring force through his legs and spine, causing lasting injuries. Since then, he has been left fighting with worker’s comp(19months), and because of delays and setbacks, he is now facing the reality of permanent disability. Watching the strongest man I know struggle through this has been incredibly hard, And this is his story.

This past Sunday was extra special for one of my clients — and his dog, Marley! 🐾🐟
After weeks of him asking for salmon, my husband Matt (a culinary school graduate) joined me to cook a full Mediterranean-inspired meal right in my client’s kitchen. It was such a hit that “Salmon Sundays” is now officially a weekly tradition… and yes, Marley gets his own plate too!
