A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the Redlands Holiday Book Drive!

We had the best time at storytime with our very own Dr. Amy Young, who shared some wonderful stories with the little ones. Because of your incredible generosity, Barnes & Noble has donated thousands of books to RICA (Resiliency Institute for Childhood Adversity)!

These donations even inspired us to build a brand-new library right inside our clinic! Now, we can keep this tradition going all year long, ensuring every child who walks through our doors leaves with a book of their own.

On behalf of Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital and the RICA team, thank you for helping us write a brighter chapter for our community!

We are beyond grateful to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and the amazing community members who stepped up to fill our halls with joy this holiday season. These toys represent a community that cares deeply about the healing and happiness of children overcoming adversity.

A massive thank you to the San Bernardino Police Department for their incredible donation of toys to the Resiliency Institute!

Partnerships like this are what building a resilient community is all about. It means the world to us—and even more to the kids at our pediatric clinic—to have our local officers supporting the cause and helping us stock our shelves.

We are still buzzing from the incredible turnout at our first annual RICA Toy Drive! The photos told one part of the story, but this video captures the real energy of the day—from the roar of the motorcycles to the smiles on the kids’ faces.

We set out to ensure every child at the Resiliency Institute gets a gift this December, and thanks to this amazing community, we made it happen. Watching everyone come together—including special guests Vic Slick and Ami Davis—was a reminder of why we do what we do.

We’re already looking forward to making next year even bigger!

Building joy for the 3rd year in a row! We are proud to come together once again to make the holidays brighter for the children of San Bernardino County. For the third consecutive year, the team at and the Apprenticeship Program arrived at the Children’s Assessment Center with a trailer full of gifts and gratitude. Because of this ongoing partnership, we aren’t just covering the holidays—this donation is large enough to ensure children visiting the center get gifts for their birthdays all year long!

We jammed our car to the absolute limit today picking up a donation from the Children’s Foundation of America. It was a tight squeeze, but we’ll do whatever it takes to make sure the kids at RICA have a magical Christmas! Thank you !!

We are absolutely OVERWHELMED by the turnout for our first annual toy drive! ❤️
When we planned this event, our goal was simple yet vital: to ensure that every single child we see here at the Resiliency Institute leaves with a toy this holiday season. Today, our community rallied around us in a way that left us speechless. Seeing so many of you show up to support the youth we serve was truly inspiring. Thanks to your generosity, our goal is now a reality!

Lights, camera, compassion!

We had an incredible evening at the Padua Hills Theatre, joining forces with our partners at the Children’s Foundation of America for their “Hollywood Holiday” Gala.

The night was filled with moving stories and powerful reminders of why we do this work. Among the inspiring speakers was scholarship recipient Ashley Avila, who shared her journey through housing instability and her dream of becoming a nurse. She reminded us that “school has always been the one place that kept my hope alive.”

Her words perfectly captured the spirit of resilience we strive to support: “I want to use my past not as something that breaks me, but as something that prepares me to heal others.”

At RICA, we stand with CFA to “Be the Difference.” As Ashley shared, this support does more than fund an education—it helps “rebuild lives, restore hope, and give young people the chance to become who they were meant to be.”

What an absolutely inspiring night! ✨ We were truly honored to witness Dr. Siccama receive the prestigious Distinguished Service Medal from Riverside himself at the Riverside Sheriffs' "Courage Behind the Badge" event! A huge thank you to the Riverside Sheriffs for this amazing honor!

This award is a powerful testament to her unwavering dedication to protecting our most vulnerable, especially for her crucial role in a challenging child protection case, where her expert medical insight and professionalism were paramount, allowing her to stand her ground even in the most difficult court proceedings. Talk about !

It was wonderful to see Dr. Amy Young, along with her RICA colleagues and friends, celebrating this well-deserved commendation. The appreciation for this honor, both for Dr. Siccama and her phenomenal team, radiated throughout the evening.

In her own words, Dr. Siccama shared, "I am so privileged to be here tonight with my entire amazing RICA team for their support, as providing medical care for the children of the Inland Empire is truly so meaningful, and it's also meaningful to work with the Riverside County Sheriffs as we strive to create close bonds with law enforcement to closely protect kids."

Echoing the sentiment of the evening, as they said last night about her commitment: "Her commitment to protecting our children and supporting law enforcement services serves as a powerful example of compassion, courage, and service to the community."
