Laura, a nurse, wife, and mother of 3, was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2017 at age 38. She made a great recovery following major surgery—except for lingering pain in her hip and back. “I tried everything to help myself.” However, acupuncture, physiotherapy, prescription medications, and injections didn’t give her any lasting relief. Heather’s pain started after failed discectomy surgery 7 years ago to remove a pr*****ed disc that was pressing on her sciatic nerve. “It was at least 8 months before I could do any exercise, and my pain was high every day,” she said.

Heather learned to live with the constant back, leg, and foot pain, even though it kept her from driving and doing normal daily activities. She tried medication and other treatments, but “I was too scared to have more surgery.”

Jason’s painful diabetic neuropathy started more than 12 years ago. He describes it as “continuous pain in my feet that felt like really bad pins and needles and also like my bones were being broken, and my feet were being burnt through heat and cold.” Only 45 years old, he was forced to stop working since pain medications made him sleepy.

“It was horrendous,” said Jason. “I couldn’t get out of bed some days. The pain stopped me in my tracks.” He was on the maximum dose of several opioids, getting lidocaine infusions twice a year, and even tried adhesive fentanyl patches wrapped around his feet. “They told me that was it, and there was nothing else they could do,” said Jason. “It’s not just the pain, it’s also the depression. You just think there is no hope. I was suicidal.”

“The results of Nevro HFX have been life-changing to me,” said Martin, a 52-year-old farmer. He suffered chronic back pain for 15 years, resulting from damaged discs. The physical demands of farming caused further discomfort.

“Completely life-limiting,” was how Leslie described the lower back pain that radiated down both legs for 10+ years. Due to the dull, persistent pain caused by bulging discs and sciatica, he couldn’t walk for more than 15 minutes, and “My sleep was massively affected. I was constantly waking up through the night,” he said.

Before Nevro HFX, Leslie tried injections, epidurals and radiofrequency ablations. The pain relief was temporary, and the injections became less effective each time. On Christmas Eve in 2000, Lynn popped a disc in her back coughing from the flu. Multiple operations didn’t help her pain. She had to give up her job as an assistant chef, stop walking her dogs and couldn’t look after her family.

Annie loved her job as a nurse, but chronic back pain forced her to stop working in 1993. Over two decades she tried everything her doctors suggested: several back surgeries, strong painkillers and “every alternative therapy known to man.” Finally, Annie found a solution: HFX™*.

As a teenager, Manoj had hurt himself at his manual job moving lorry wheel hubs, “but being young, I ignored the pain,” he said. Two years later, Manoj had to be carried away from a table tennis match when his back went out. As the pain got worse, Manoj became chronically depressed.

After two back surgeries, nerve ablations and many medications, Manoj still suffered from chronic pain, leg weakness and restless leg syndrome.
