Amazing opportunity to promote awareness for Su***de Prevention month and for Forever14 The Great Race happening this Saturday! It’s an amazing chance to get outside (Sky Tavern is smoke free!) with your family and/or friends and go through a fun obstacle course at the site at Project Discovery near Sky Tavern! You don’t want to miss out! It’s not too late to register a team! $60 for up to 6 people on a team. Rise Wellness is launching a new FREE support group for parents/guardians who live with and are intimately involved in the daily care of youth, ages 10-18, who are actively suicidal or live with chronic suicidality. We meet weekly on Wednesdays from 6-7 pm at 421 W Plumb Ln, Suite F, Reno, NV 89509. This group is a mixture of support and resource education on how to ensure your youth is receiving appropriate interventions utilizing the most up to date research and knowledge in suicidology today. It will also be a place where your family experiences connection to others who understand. You will find acceptance and community during this challenging and unimaginable struggle.

The truth is when you lose someone to su***de, that’s part of the daily loss too. And for those who live with the grief of that loss, the journey through each day includes that part of the story. Rise Wellness is offering a group for adults who have lost someone to su***de. It’s free and once/month. Second Monday of every month from 6-8 pm.

We are offering In person or via telehealth for those who live rurally or struggle with transportation. Spread the word!

— You Don’t Just Lose Someone Once —

You lose them over and over,
sometimes many times a day.
When the loss, momentarily forgotten,
creeps up,
and attacks you from behind.
Fresh waves of grief as the realization hits home,
they are gone.
Again.

You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every time you open your eyes to a new dawn,
and as you awaken,
so does your memory,
so does the jolting bolt of lightning that rips into your heart,
they are gone.
Again.

Losing someone is a journey,
not a one-off.
There is no end to the loss,
there is only a learned skill on how to stay afloat,
when it washes over.

Be kind to those who are sailing this stormy sea,
they have a journey ahead of them,
and a daily shock to the system each time they realize, they are gone,
Again.

You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every day,
for a lifetime.

Kerri Countess and Forever14 are ensuring we eradicate su***de. Help us join the fight! It doesn’t take much to learn how to continue the conversation to end teen su***de.

It feels lonely but I’m not alone. It’s hard but but it’s been made easy. I want to give a BIG dose of GRATITUDE to those who have been with me and continue to support our mission. I want to really appreciate the people who show up, the businesses that always say yes even before I ask, the non profits that struggle with me, and most of all God who has never failed me. This was never about my son, it’s about our story and that of so many others.

Nancy, Stacey, Wendy, Crysti, Chelsea, Kim, Sean, Jansen, Caleb, Reese, Niko, Matthew, Sarah, Alex, Johnna, Clayton, Katie, Mom, Emily, Barbara, Logan, Grace and the dozens of teens who have showed up to help us advance conversation and human connection to prevent teen su***de. As I reflect on the names above, most of these I met after Caleb died. They didn’t know him but they love him. They are the true heroes.

So today if you saw me on the news last night, just know I know you are with me. I see you, I feel you and I love you. You alone are enough to keep me going.

I love this picture of this small but mighty trio who completed the Great race; to end teen su***de. We have big dreams to be ***deFreeBy2023 and big or small, I can do really hard things with you by my side.

Today marks the start of Su***de Prevention month! Rise Wellness is committed to spreading awareness about how to talk about and best practices ways to treat suicidal thoughts and tendencies. When we talk about it we SAVE LIVES! We invite you to be part of the change 😊 ***de

to complete five action items developed by the National Council for Su***de Prevention (NCSP) for their Take 5 to Save Lives campaign:

(1) learn the signs
(2) do your part
(3) practice self-care
(4) reach out
(5) spread the word
