Cravings/impulsiveness can be decreased with transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) according to a 2008 study in the journal "Appetite". They found that food cravings were decreased in the treatment group. The authors also cited other studies on decreased cravings for smoking, alcohol. drugs and po*******hy using tDCS.

Here at Optimal Brain we use tDCS and other brain stimulation techniques to help with symptoms of Depression, Anxiety and ADHD. Call us at 208-483-0469 for any questions.

We aimed to assess whether modulation of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLFPC) with noninvasive brain stimulation, namely transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), modifies food craving in healthy subjects. We performed a randomized sham-controlled cross-over study in which 23 subjects re...

Depression , Substance abuse and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder were helped by Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation according to a 2022 study in the journal of Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews.
The same study showed that ADHD was helped by Transcranial
Direct Current Stimulation. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35714757/
At Optimal Brain we utilize both of these therapies to help reduce these symptoms.

Nutrition and the brain.
Neurofeedback and neurostimulation will work better for ADHD, depression and anxiety if you feed your brain well. Most people know to stay away from sugar, but even if your diet is good, you may have a genetic variant that can have an effect on your neurotransmitters. For instance, if you have a defect in a gene called MTHFR, it can cause cardiovascular problems as well as neurotransmitter imbalances. If you want to test for this problem, go to ancestry.com and order a DNA test. After you get your results we can send your raw data through another website called genetic genie to see if you have the MTHFR defect and what supplements you can take to get around the problem. Here is a short 6 minute video that explains it in more detail. https://youtu.be/L76PaoGaPx0

Trans cranial d/c is one of the therapies we use to help symptoms of ADHD.
Without impulsivity control a child might react to a situation by hitting or yelling, or might jump off play ground equipment with out thinking of the possibility of hurting themselves, or eat candy and spend money without stopping.
If this sounds like you or someone you know, we can help!

These findings suggest that stimulation of the left DLPFC with tDCS can improve impulsivity symptoms in ADHD, supporting the therapeutic potential for tDCS in adult ADHD patients.

ADHD and neuro stimulation.
In this literature review study from 2016, the researchers stated that transcranial magnetic therapy helped ADHD symptoms significantly in 4 out of 5 articles that they reviewed and that transcranial direct current stimulation showed significant positive effects on ADHD.

This is an older review when there were not as many studies as there are now. A lot more positive studies have come out in the last 7 years!

Additional studies are needed to confirm the efficacy of rTMS and tDCS in ADHD. rTMS could be used as an alternative therapy when methylphenidate is not well tolerated or shows an insufficient efficacy. Nevertheless, the optimal target, frequency and duration remain to be determined. tDCS can modula...

Red/Infrared led light therapy helps Alzheimer's disease and imbalanced gut bacteria in this 2021 study. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33610085/
The researchers found that using light therapy on the intestines reduced amyloid and tau formations in the brains of mice induced to have Alzheimer's disease. They also tested the mice and found that their learning retention significantly improved.

We here at Optimal Brain help with symptoms of ADHD, Anxiety, Depression and Concussion. We use a variety of treatments such as: Red and infrared light, transcranial magnetic and transcranial AC/DC therapies.
Here is a link to a study about improvements in cognitive abilities after traumatic brain injuries. The patients were treated with red and infrared light. The patients had had injuries at least 10 months to 8 years prior to treatments. There were continued improvements on neuropsychological testing even at 1 and 2 months after the treatments had stopped.
