The Harvest Exchange

The Harvest Exchange is a 4-week project created in response to the increased social isolation faced by nursing home residents due to COVID-19.

In partnership with Ferncliff Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, The Harvest Exchange aims to cultivate joy and connection between Ferncliff Residents and members of surrounding area communities. Due to COVID-19, social isolation and it's effects on members of our community has significantly increased. The challenges of severe isolation faced by nursing home residents and loved ones is urgent and creative solutions are imperative. The Harvest Exchange was created by graduate students at the CUNY School of Professional Studies to directly respond to the need for creative solutions during this challenging time. Our hope is to provide opportunities for creativity and exchange between Ferncliff Nursing Home residents, loved ones and the surrounding area communities. On October 25th, November 1st, and November 8th, The Harvest Exchange will be at various locations in Rhinebeck and Red Hook, NY, providing crafts, postcards and prompts to spark "long distance" dialogue, which will culminate in a performance event on the Ferncliff grounds on November 15th. Due to COVID-19 health and safety restrictions, participants from the community are not able to join us for the culminating performance event. We hope, however, you'll visit us at our booth on one of the listed dates! Social distancing guidelines will be in effects and masks are required to participate. We're back! THIS SUNDAY November 1st from 10am-2pm in Downtown Rhinebeck. We'll be hanging out right outside the entrance to the Rhinebeck Farmers Market. Set your clocks back and then join us for postcard writing and fall crafts in exchange with the residents at Ferncliff Nursing Home. We look forward to connecting with you this weekend!

Announcing The Harvest Exchange! A project created by CUNY SPS Applied Theatre graduate students in partnership with Ferncliff Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. The Harvest Exchange aims to cultivate joy and connection between Ferncliff residents and members of surrounding area communities, in response to increased social isolation due to COVID-19 and the growing need for creative solutions.

We’ll be hanging out at our Community Booths on October 25th, November 1st and November 8th, engaging participants in postcard writing and fall crafts. Come on by to say hello and to participate! We look forward to connecting.
