You can be scared, confused, or sitting in the longest waiting room of your life and still be held by what God already said about you. Our feelings flip all day long, but His word does not move. When life feels delayed or off track, lean into what you know is true about God, not the stories fear keeps trying to tell you about yourself.

Sometimes the bravest move is to respond in faith when everything in you wants to panic. Even when the situation feels loud and messy, you still get to choose what voice you agree with. Faith does not ignore reality; it invites God into it.

Hey Unbreakable Minds Fam, as we wrap up the year, I’ll be sharing a series of affirmations that have been feeding my spirit. I hope they’ll encourage you, too, and give you a little peace and strength as we move through this holiday season together.

This time of year can be beautiful… and at the same time, it can be heavy.

We’re juggling family expectations, financial pressures, emotional triggers, and the quiet weight of everything we carried in 2025.

So here’s your gentle reminder:
💙 You are allowed to slow down.
💙 You are allowed to step back.
💙 You are allowed to protect your peace.🌿
💙 You are allowed to laugh and enjoy the simple things.

As you shop, gather, celebrate, or simply try to make it through the week, I hope these affirmations give you space to breathe, reflect, and return to yourself.

Let this season be less about perfection… and more about presence. Less about doing… and more about being. 💙

Here’s to peace, grounding, and grace as we close out the year.

Speak like a Queen & Choose your circle wisely👑

Over the last two sessions, our Queens focused on how we speak and who we allow in our inner circle.
In Speak Like a Queen, they practiced using their voices with clarity, confidence, care, and presence…because a Queen knows her voice is power.

In Realms & Relationships, they explored healthy connections, boundaries, and sisterhood, reminding us that who we let near our crown matters.

These sessions were filled with laughter, creativity, reflection, and real conversations, and most importantly, connection.

✨ Who are we? Queens.
✨ How do we reign? With confidence, grace, poise, and decorum.

Money conversations can be some of the hardest we have as parents. Not because we don’t care, but because most of us learned about money long before we ever had kids of our own. 💬💵

As I look at this picture of our family from almost nine years ago, back when our girls were learning to count and figuring out place value, I’m reminded that we were already laying financial foundations… even when they were too young to understand the “why.”
And now, seeing them as high schoolers, we can clearly trace the fruit of those early conversations, the boundaries we practiced, and the values we modeled.
But hear me clearly…

It’s never too late to start this journey.
Your kids don’t need you to be perfect. They just need you to be present, honest, and willing to grow with them.

Maybe you’ve noticed moments where you spend to soften the tension, avoid saying “no” to keep the peace, or feel guilty when the budget and the requests don’t match. These are real experiences… and you are not alone.

That’s why we’re creating space for Parenting On Purpose: Money Talks, a workshop designed to help families build healthier, more intentional money habits together.

We’ll explore how to set financial boundaries with love, shift old patterns, and model money confidence for our children. Because raising financially aware families doesn’t start with the numbers, it starts with the conversations. 🌿

We’re also honored to welcome Kerwyn Phillip, author of Malik’s First Job, who will share practical tools teens and adults can use immediately.

Let’s be honest, money isn’t just numbers on a budget. It’s emotional. It’s generational. And our kids are learning from us every day. 💬💵

Many parents feel the pressure to keep saying “yes,” even when it stretches the budget or drains their peace. Others carry quiet stress around finances because of the money messages they absorbed growing up. Those patterns don’t disappear on their own… they show up in how we raise our families today.

That’s why we’re hosting Parenting on Purpose ~ Money Talks: Raising Financially Aware Families Who Respect the Budget. A practical, heart-level conversation about building healthier money habits at home.

We’re grateful to welcome Kerwyn Phillip, author of Malik’s First Job, who will offer tools to help teens and families build strong financial foundations for the future.

The hardest boundaries to hold are usually with the people who know your soft spots. But here’s the truth: love without limits will drain you.

Because sometimes the real struggle isn’t the spending, it’s the guilt when you say “no,” the pressure to give when you can’t, or the resentment that builds when the budget breaks to keep the peace.

Healthy financial boundaries sound like:
💬 “I can’t buy that today, but we can plan for it.”
💬 “We’re sticking to our family budget because it matters.”
💬 “My love isn’t measured by what I purchase, it’s in how I care for our home.”

These are mindset shifts that create stability, trust, and emotional safety in the family. 🌿

If your home is ready to practice love with financial limits, not love with resentment, it’s time to join us.

💙 Join us for Parenting On Purpose: Money Talks on Dec. 16th at 6pm.

Parents, let’s talk about money and the messages our children are receiving from us every day. 💬💵

Ever feel like your wallet is on autopilot… saying “yes” more than you should, stretching your budget to avoid a meltdown, or carrying silent stress about finances? You’re not alone. So much of our relationship with money was shaped long before we became parents and now, we’re passing those patterns on without even realizing it.

That’s why we’re inviting you to join us for Parenting on Purpose ~ Money Talks: Raising Financially Aware Families Who Respect the Budget, a powerful, honest conversation about setting healthy financial boundaries with yourself, your partner, and your children.
Together, we’ll explore how to model financial awareness, create open conversations around money, and build homes where love and limits can coexist.

We’re also honored to welcome special guest Kerwyn Phillip, author of Malik’s First Job: Financial Principles for Teens, who will share practical tools to support financial literacy and confidence for the whole family.

Come ready to learn, reflect, and reset your family’s relationship with money on purpose. 💙

Rams Relax & Recharge was a beautiful reminder that slowing down is just as important as pushing forward.

Watching students pause, breathe, reflect, and reconnect with themselves was powerful to witness. In the middle of deadlines, pressure, and expectations, they chose presence, mindfulness, and care and that choice matters.

Grounding conversations and the mindfulness jar activity, we created space for calm, clarity, and connection. These weren’t just techniques, they were tools for life.

Grateful to the VCU Black Alumni Council’s Mentoring Circle for creating intentional space for healing, awareness, and growth…and inviting me to be a part of it!

Here’s to more pauses. More presence. More peace. 💙

A great resource to support that daily grounding practice is the I Woke Up Like This Morning Journal, the perfect companion for anyone looking to start each day with clarity, calm, and intentional reflection. ✨ Link in bio to grab yours.
