VA COPES

VA COPES Healthcare treatment systems and behavioral health services have been challenged by the pandemic.

The Department of Behavioral Health has responded by launching a warmline, which provides free crisis counseling to all Virginians impacted by COVID-19.

On our final day of operation, VA C.O.P.E.S would like to thank everyone for all of their support. Over the last 15 months the VA C.O.P.E.S warmline has received over 4,600 calls. We are grateful to have been able to help so many Virginian's during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the warmline is ending, there are multiple resources available to assist Virginians. Callers after November 30th will be met with an automated message directing them to their local CSB, the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline or emergency services. In July 2022, the new hotline for mental health emergencies, 9-8-8, will be available nationwide. In addition, the website for VA C.O.P.E.S, VACOPES.com , will continue running for at least a year in order to provide access to their free resource database.
