Anyone else have “All or Nothing Syndrome”?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
(Aka “ANS”)⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s an epidemic in our culture, but it’s ending.⁣⁣

This person also went on to say..⁣

“I get back to it easily. Something I never would have said before. It doesn’t feel like pressure, it gets me back to the connection of what I’m doing and how I want to be feeling.“⁣
⁣⁣
When you finally shift from ANS to a PRACTICE mentality, you’ll never be “off” again.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s a beautiful thing.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
If you or one of your clients suffers from ANS, let’s get to work.⁣⁣

I have a real problem with goals and resolutions.

They always put happiness on the other side of the fence.

It’s a conditional, which sets us up for disappointment and failure.

If I look fitter, then I’ll be attractive and then I’ll be happy.

If I get stronger, then the guys will respect me.

If, then.

Then, along the way we will overlook all the good s**t we did and feel unsatisfied with the result because it ultimately didn’t REALLY change how we felt about ourselves.

Making the commitment to the thing, like a program, diet, routine etc., can be disastrous for 2 reasons.

1, it typically works like an if, then scenario.

Putting all the eggs in the basket of the outcome.

And 2, it actually shirks ownership.

This is the bigger problem.

Because this means that at any point in the journey with said ‘thing’, you can quit and fall back saying “so and so didn’t work for me.”

This is problematic for lots of reasons, the biggest one being that you end up feeling like a failure and worse, a VICTIM.

Helpless. And hopeless.

The trick is to commit to yourself. Find things that work for you.

Hold yourself to that commitment and feel what it’s like to follow through and show up for yourself.

You’re fu***ng worth it. Every single one of you.

This is what the fitness industry lacks. An approach where individuality meets ownership AND solutions.

So if you’re looking to make REAL and LASTING changes to your health and well-being, and you want to do it in a sustainable way that will set you up to succeed FOR LIFE, let’s chat.

Thoughts?

We often think we can make a a quick fix. What’s the thing that’ll help me lose this weight? What can I add in? What can I take? Who do need to pay? Etc.

The successful weight loss journey (read: done the right way, sustainably, with proper shifts in beliefs and changes in behavior) will encompass our entire lifestyle.

It needs to be, or else the problem(s) come back.

It’s like if your cars alignment was off. You shred your front tires. Then you take it to the shop and get new tires, but you don’t fix the alignment. Same thing happens to the new tires.

I help people look and feel their absolute best by redesigning the other 23 hours of the day.

Hit me with a DM if you’d like to seriously upgrade your life in 2022.

Choose to see it.

Turn the focus to what you want to see more of in your life.

Best way is to write down your wins. Write them down, read them and breathe.

Recognize the dope s**t you’re doing. The way you’re showing up for yourself. The path you’re choosing. The effort you’re putting in.

We tend to keep our focus on our shortcomings. What if we turned it to the positive, the way a supportive coach, parent, or friend would do.

It doesn’t mean ignore the areas of improvement, it means keep your focus on what you’re doing well.

That changes the whole vibe. Change the vibe, change the outcome.

Ownership and responsibility are the missing ingredients in your pursuit of health and happiness.

You will not succeed in this pursuit until you accept AND embrace this TRUTH.

You might change how you look, you might feel a bit better, but you will not fundamentally be better yet.

This work will have us facing our demons, our traumas, our tendencies, and our stories.

All of which will be difficult. And there is no better thing than experiencing and pursuing this ABSOLUTE FREEDOM.

To be wholly and truly yourself. To completely love and care for yourself.

To remember you are already whole.

When I started training I watched other coaches get excited when their clients would hit PR’s and experience triumphs in their life.

I couldn’t feel that.

I thought something was wrong. Why couldn’t I be genuinely excited about someone else’s wins?

I realized two things:

1) it’s impossible to be excited for someone else when you’re not excited for yourself.

2) it’s not anyone else’s job to be excited about your life. It’s yours.

When I talk about spiritual things it’s in the context of connection to ourselves.

While there’s many facets to it and I’m learning deeply all the time, I always return to connection.

I find that in my life, joy and excitement are indicators that I’m connected spiritually.

Those things are like magnets, pointing to a true north.

Not that the activities or people are the end result of my purpose, rather that following and connecting to my joy and excitement is the expression of my spirit.

Embrace the conversation around spirituality, it will lead you to a healthier, happier, more aligned life.

It’s the reason our coaching style works so well.

We embrace this missing component to nearly all other fitness programs.

Let’s talk about transformation today.

“I’m not good at art.” A familiar story I’ve told myself as long as I can remember.

Yet I find myself being draw to painting and drawing creatively. And every time I allow myself to become frustrated and give up.

I’m addressing this story, not out of some desire to master myself, but rather an experiment that will result in a creative outlet that I truly desire from within mySelf.

I learned after doing this painting (a Bob Ross tutorial, I’m not very talented yet) that art requires me to see things differently.

If I want to create a sunset, I’ll need to understand where the shading goes, what colors to mix, how to create different lighting effects etc. I obviously don’t know the lingo.

Regardless, the point here is that now I am looking at life differently.

I see a sunrise and I’m looking at how the brightness near the sun is contrasted by lines of red elsewhere in the sky, and darkness in other places.

This is something that I can’t ‘forget’.

And that is really cool in my opinion. That I’ve understood and changed something so fundamental to me that I couldn’t change it back if I tried.

This is what so many of us need with regards to our health also.

A new way of seeing it that transcends the superficiality of calories, tone, burn, etc.

We must see this differently if we are to truly change our health.

I help people reconnect to their true selves and live a lifestyle that aligns with who they are and what they want out of life.

Understanding requires experience.

It requires you to FEEL. To have gone through something and come out with something you actually understand.

Knowing is theoretical.

We all know a lot in this age of information, yet our understanding lags. Once we feel is we will understand it.

Here we can find body wisdom. How our bodies WANT to thrive and feel amazing. Free from disease, anxiety, depression. Living a life of purpose and thriving.

That’s something that can only be understood with feeling.

When you take the feeling out you get disconnected. When we get disconnected we get sick in some way.

Being tired will affect your decision, habits, and actions.

Poor sleep will affect your food choices, your movement (intensity, motivation, enthusiasm), and your mindset (resolve, becoming defeatist, f**k-it mentality).

Your food choices will affect your mood, your mindset, and your movement.

Ever eaten a big meal and not been able to move for a long time?

Ever tried to do a workout after a heavy brunch?

Ever seen your mood affected by food that didn’t make you feel that good? Yeahhhhh

Movement, or more likely lack thereof, will affect how your body feels and heals. It will affect your digestion, your sleep, your performance, your motivation, your resolve, and your overall energy for a day.

Ever laid around for a day to ‘recover’ only to find you need more recovery days to recover from that day?

Mindset. Feeling fatigued will have doubt and negativity creeping in. You will lack that enthusiasm you had when you were well rested.

The root of most of your health problems is in fatigue/being tired.

When we start addressing that root, you will immediately feel better and begin making better choices.

Until that root is addressed, you will continue on the path of attempted discipline and restriction followed by failure and relapse.

I wish you all could feel what I feel.

I thought I was healthy. I thought I was doing enough.

Doing enough to have people believe I was fit, taking care of myself, and eating right.

This looked like being in the gym and pushing myself. It looked like shopping at the farmers market and buying organic. It looked like trying different diet trends.

But it wasn’t real.

It was a checklist. Resume syndrome.

I was trying to signal that I was healthy. And in a way, superior.

Then I felt what healthy really feels like.

It’s just that. A feeling.

Not an accumulation of the right activities or the ‘right’ lifestyle.

No, that’s virtue signaling (am I using that correctly in this context?).

I was disconnected from how I actually felt.

What helped me feel my best.

I wish you could all experience how good, how GREAT, you can feel.

The desire for a full life you can have.

The energy you’re meant to pour into your life, yourself, and your loved ones and communities.

The joy, the happiness, the laughter, the pain. All of it.

I want to share that with you and the world.

This life is truly a gift.

And I understand if you’re not in a place to hear that or feel that. I’ve been there.

But when the time comes and you feel that sentiment, I want you to grasp it and believe that this life is absolutely beautiful and to wake up each day is and can be a delight.

Reach out to me if you’re interested in living that life. I’ve coached people to find this vibrancy, this level of thriving. And I can help you too.

Discipline has its place. And it’s not on the pedestal.

Alignment is what needs to be on the pedestal.

Alignment with our nature, our design, our biology.

Alignment with our highest self.

Alignment in our beliefs, thoughts, words and actions.

This is where our health will thrive.

If you’re still looking at health as a means to ‘fix a problem’ that’s ok. It’s just not the answer.

Our current approach is to focus on a specific problem: like weight loss or toning. Band aids like working out, counting calories, macros, sleep aids, supplements, etc. will only get you so far.

Eventually our health suffers as the motivation falters to do something that’s not entirely aligned with who we are and who we believe ourselves to be.

Seeking alignment requires us to reconnect to our deepest self.

The self that seeks joy. That is fueled by love. That brings our best version to the table.

Bringing out that version of our Self is what breeds alignment.

And without alignment, we will fall short of what we believe could be true for ourselves.
