As we prepare for the approaching winter storm, Commissioner Hernan R. Garza III will open the Able Gonzalez Community Center in San Isidro as a shelter starting tomorrow afternoon after 12:00pm for anyone seeking warmth. Commissioner Hernan R. Garza III will have a firefighter from his fire department on standby at the community center throughout the storm. If you have questions, feel free to message me or contact Barney, the fire chief in San Isidro. Please remember to bring your own blankets and to take any medications with you. Stay warm during these days.

Commissioner Hernan R. Garza will have two dump trucks parked in front of his office at 2235 N. Flores St., Rio Grande City, Texas, next to the country store, for any Christmas trash that needs to be discarded. Please be mindful that the dump trucks are only for Christmas trash.

Yesterday, on August 11, 2025, we had the pleasure and privilege of hosting a rabies vaccination drive for the residents of Starr County. We distributed 50 vouchers for pets to receive vaccinations, and the event was a complete success! This was the first vaccination drive ever held for pets in the county. I am happy to announce that this is an important step forward in our efforts to support the furry friends of Starr County.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to get vouchers for their beloved pets. We appreciate the entire community for coming out. A special thanks to Dr. Margo, Dr. Resendez, and their staff for making this event possible for my precinct and for those who traveled from other areas of the county.

Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to my secretaries, Johanna and Marlin, for their hard work in organizing this event. We hope to plan another event in the near future to offer vouchers for spaying and neutering. I will continue to work diligently for my community and for our furry friends.
