A milestone moment for healthy hearts! We're thrilled to share that our Cardiac Cath Unit has completed its 100th CardioMEMS™ implant. This breakthrough device—an implantable pressure sensor used in patients with all types of congestive heart failure—is placed in a patient's pulmonary artery, allowing physicians to remotely track pressure changes that often occur before symptoms appear. The proactive monitoring process enables doctors to adjust treatment earlier, preventing complications, reducing hospitalizations, and helping patients manage their condition more effectively.

This achievement reflects the skill and dedication of our care team, as well as the life-changing impact of advanced technology on patient outcomes. Here's to 100 and counting!

A specialist in both breast cancer and benign breast conditions, Dr. Susan Lee brings an exceptional background shaped by a family of physicians and a passion she discovered early on. Serving as our Chief of Breast Surgery, Dr. Lee's mission is simple: deliver world-class breast care close to home, ensuring that patients in Eastern Suffolk County never feel they need to travel for the best treatment. She leads a multidisciplinary team that offers a range of services, including personalized surgical care, genetic testing, and a dedicated high-risk program.

On Friday, Dr. Lee joined our team on Wear Pink Day, an essential reminder to us all that one in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Each October, we illuminate our hospital in the glow of pink lights to remind women everywhere to get their annual screening.
