Along time ago a zen center was founded. (Covid killed it later) It had one rule. Separation of church and state. In other words, leave Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, International conflict, the CIA, the FBI, ICE, the Governor, celebrities who think they know something…. Leave these people at the door. Sure, we could‘ve discussed all that, but there would be no peace in the zendo and there would‘ve been lots of aggravation. I recently was asked what I think about our current political situation by one of our former regulars. I declined to comment, and without spending several hours reading the latest news stories and digging for the true and the false, I frankly don’t feel I am educated on these topics enough to comment. My teacher reminds me frequently, “you’re an ordained priest” and that I feel, in itself, is a huge reason not to choose sides. I will not willingly create division. I DID NOT VOTE.
