In times like this, it is best to admit that we donāt know what we donāt know.
The Tuskegee Experiment was a disgusting, blatant disregard for human life and fostered a deep distrust in medicine for many people of color.
Researchers are now required to educate participants involved in clinical trails on the purpose, design known risks and benefits of receiving and not receiving a treatment/intervention. They agree to ātake one for the teamā for the greater good.
The men in Tuskegee did not.
At this point, we donāt know the long term effect of getting this vaccine are or will be. We also donāt know the long term health effect of having COVID infection are.
We DO know that this virus has already killed hundreds of thousands of people over the last year with no end in sight.
Vaccinations have a proven track record of providing protection against infection and/or reducing morbidity (or complications) and mortality associated with an infection.
If you donāt want it, donāt get it. If you have questions, ask your doctor or your childās pediatrician (fyi, it probably wonāt even be available to children >12 outside of a clinical trail for at least a year). Either way, make an INFORMED decision based on what is best for you and your family.
Thatās all I got.
