In the photography world, I'm what they call an "overshooter". ;) I often photograph faaaaaaar more images than what's needed or normal. My clients know that when they get a gallery from me, they're receive a LOT of stunning images.

The Davis family had the sweetest thing happen the day of their session. They're son, Aiden, started walking *hours* before our time together. We got to capture him take even MORE steps during the session! It was so precious to see his parent's giddy reactions to their precious first born. The pride and joy was contagious!!!

Wedding season is almost here, and I'd be lying if I told you that I wasn't absolutely excited about it!!!

Friends, meet Noel and Alida. I had the utmost joy of going on a missions trip to Africa with Alida last Summer. She sparkled and shined that whole trip!!! Now, she's sparkling and shining for a brand new reason : Noel.

Noel is confident, kind, tender hearted and such a sweet match to precious Alida. Alida is vibrant, abounding in beauty and SO smart. She has found her perfect complement in Noel and I cannot WAIT to photograph their wedding in August!!!

Our *last* weekend of Fluffy Floral Minis was so warm and joyful!! We had the most magical time chasing the light and capturing each session!! You'd never believe this location was in Roanoke City. The blossoms were SO was worth waiting for. The fluffy cherry trees, rustic fence and wide open field made the perfect backdrop for our client's beautiful families.

Yesterday, I had to do something I'd NEVER done in 15 years as a photographer. I CHANGED the location of a FULL day of mini sessions. The blooms that I had been waiting on just weren't at their peak and I NEEDED fluffy florals for my fluffy floral mini sessions. I drove around for over an hour looking for fluffy trees and I found TWO in downtown Roanoke.

The *new* location was surrounded by concrete buildings and didn't look cute at all. Almost every family arrived vocalizing their nervousness and hesitation. BUT, I saw potential!!!!

The results? Well, I think they speak for themselves ;)

Anyone else dreaming about SPRING?! I found the most *dreamy* session location last year and I cannot get it out of my head! I'm a huge flower lover, but that miiiiiiight just be me. I need your help on this one: Should I offer a "pop up" day for minis featuring these gorgeous buds and blossoms? (please say yes!!!!)

What a whimsically adventure we are on. Who would have thought that this little life would be ours ? The days are long & the years are short. We are laughing through the heartache & seeking out the good. The ordinary joys that fill our chaotic days are what make us grateful. I’m so thankful for you. You’re are always willing to say “yes”, you are the first to volunteer to put a kid (and simultaneously yourself) to bed, you are relentlessly laidback (even if your wife things urgency is necessary at times), you were made for music, you desire nothing more out of life than to live it quietly & work with your hands, you’re witty & loyal & simple & kind.

The more we do life together, the more I see how we are velcroed together. Choosing each other, day by day, has made us whole. Even when the waves of life crash over us & knock the breath out of us, I always come up for air, looking for you. You’re my safe place. You’re home.

You’re so many things… but my favorite thing is that you’re mine. Happy birthday, Dave the babe✨🫶🏻

My first blog post of 2025!

A winter storm has made it's way through Virginia and everything is covered in snow. It's the most peaceful way to start the day. While kids have already ventured out side to play in it, I'm cuddled by the fire determined to keep the chill off. I'm sipping my morning coffee and delighted to say that there is a sweet and simple post waiting for you on the blog.

Well hello there ☀️ 2026 has had the sweetest and slowest start. The kids are praying for snow days, Dave is building garden beds (eeeekkk!!) and I'm caught up in a new book series.

Photography has already been SO fun. Last week I spent a few days photographing the retreat in sunshine soaked 30A Florida. It was SO fun connecting with the attendees and being refreshed by the precious reminder that rest and play are necessary !

While at the retreat, I felt the nudge to start blogging again.

Who remembers when I used to blog each week?!

At first I brushed it off. But the more I thought about the, the more I realized how much I missed the connection and creative outlet blogging offered me. Writing will always be special. I have journals upon journals to prove it. But writing in a way that allows for me to connect to others is something that I just can't shake.

So, I'm posting this online, for the whole world to see. You can expect at least 12 blog posts from me this year. I'm hoping for more, but lets not bite off more than we can chew ;). Everything ranging from my most favorite photography works to everyday life as a momma of four, to gardening and everything in between.
