If I hired a doula to advocate for me in a medical setting, I'd be glad I had someone willing to put themselves between me and someone crossing boundaries that I've put in place. This would enable my husband to stay by my side while I remain focused on the task at hand. There are those who say this isn't the role of a doula, and for some it's not. However, I would hire a doula for this *alone* if not for the multitude of other benefits they offer. The doula advocating for the patient/client per their request is *not* the problem within the medical establishment; the one crossing the boundaries that have been established is where the problem lies. As the birther, I would like to say that *anyone* crossing boundaries that the client has put in place is the only one "out of scope." Attendants of birth, learn who's the final authority. It's not the doctor, the nurse, the midwife, or the doula - it's the birther and whom the birther has entrusted their voice to and them *alone.*

As a birthkeeper, this is the role I would fill for any of my clients. The birther has final say and I am willing to fight for you, or encourage and remind you of your own voice if you prefer. No one else determines what scope I provide but me, and no one else determines what lengths I will go but the birther I support.

I'm a birthkeeper.

And ill add another. Never stand higher than the birther. Doing so can be a bit intimidating n birther may not feel in charge with someone standing over them. I know i dont :)

There are many ways to consume a placenta. This is one way. It is a simple "raw and frozen" method. The placenta is stripped of the membranes, cord and any blood clots attached. It is then rinsed under water and patted dry with paper towels. Then it is cut into strips which then is cut into smaller 'chunks'. Laid flat on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and thrown into the freezer. Once frozen the chunks can be put into a ziploc bag, dated and put back in the freezer. One would then take out a chunk or a few, and then cut into smaller pieces which are then swallowed like pills. Its very easy and its free! And you get the most benefits vs a method like 'cooked'. But again. Its going to depend on each wombman/birther and what they prefer.
It will help with hormones ----> milk production, ppa/ppd, bleeding, cramping, energy and so much more!!
Wondering about dose? That is going to depend on each birther. Some will be able to stomach a couple pieces and some will have to cut back on their dose and do a tiiinny piece!! It really is a beautiful gift we are given and much love to this gorgeous organ that nourished our babies for so many months!!
