Pivoting on Your Terms:

After years in nursing, many of us reach a moment of clarity — we want more. More balance. More impact. More alignment between our work and our worth.

But here’s the truth: a pivot doesn’t mean starting over. It means repositioning the skills you already have to open new doors — on your terms.

Here’s how you can start that process strategically:

1️⃣ Translate Your Clinical Skills into Corporate Language
You’re already managing projects, mitigating risk, improving outcomes, and leading teams — you just haven’t been calling it that.
Start using industry language (operations, process improvement, project management, strategy) to describe what you do every day.

2️⃣ Define What “Success” Looks Like for You
Do you want remote flexibility? Higher earning potential? A shift from bedside to systems-level impact?
Clarity on your priorities determines which roles align with your goals — not just your résumé.

3️⃣ Build a Visible Professional Brand
Share your insights, experiences, and perspectives online. Visibility builds credibility — especially when you’re pivoting industries.
The right people can’t advocate for you if they don’t know what you bring to the table.

4️⃣ Network Intentionally, Not Randomly
The best opportunities rarely come from job boards.
Engage with people doing what you want to do, ask thoughtful questions, and stay visible in the spaces where those conversations happen.

Let me be real clear:

I’m not proving SH*T to nobody.
Not a manager, not a coworker, not a system that was never built for me in the first place.

I don’t give a damn what you think about my path, my pace, or my choices.
I know my worth—and it ain’t measured by no damn clinical ladder.

So if you need me to jump through hoops just to be “respected,” baby, keep it.
I’m not the one. I’m not the two. I’m the whole damn problem if you try me.

I stand on business. I move with purpose. And I sleep real good at night knowing I don’t owe nobody a damn explanation.

Now run and tell THAT.

Let’s talk about growth—not the cute, filtered version folks post about… I’m talking about the real kind.

The ugly cry in the car.
The “I’m not sure I can do this” nights.
The stretched-too-thin, sleep-deprived, self-doubt-filled kind of growth.

Yeah, THAT growth.

Everybody loves to say they have a “growth mindset” and they’re “emotionally intelligent” 🙃 — and that’s cute. But the process to get there? BABY, let me tell you…

As a mom 👧🏽👧🏽👧🏽👧🏽👦🏽👦🏽👦🏽🐾nurse 👩🏽‍⚕️, student 👩🏽‍🎓 , and entrepreneur👩🏽‍💼this journey has tested me, humbled me, and straight-up dragged me at times. But you know what? It’s also grown me in ways I never imagined.

So if you’re in the thick of it—questioning, crying, crawling through—you’re not failing. You’re growing. 🌱🪴🌳
