Today, Ash Wednesday, marks the start of the season of Lent in the Christian Church. Lent is a season of prayer, sacrifice, and renewal. During this time, religious fasting and abstinence is often practiced.

As we enter these 40 days, it’s important to remember that the Church does not require fasting or abstaining from meat for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. The health and safety of you and your baby should never be compromised.

If you feel called to participate in Lent more fully, consider alternatives such as:

• Adding a daily prayer practice
• Offering small acts of kindness
• Refraining from complaining or gossip
• Limiting social media
• Don’t hit the snooze button
• Add an act of charity to your day

What other things have you, or will you, be using as an alternative to fasting??

In pregnancies at high risk of small-for-gestational-age birth, a maternal Mediterranean diet was associated with lower fetal cardiac stress (NT-proBNP) and improved fetal heart function compared with usual care.

Findings are from a secondary analysis of the IMPACT BCN randomized clinical trial.

To my fellow veterans: Happy Veterans Day 🇺🇸

Space Coast Lactation is proud to be a veteran owned practice. We are also pleased to be Brevard’s only in network Tricare lactation provider. Serving families, especially those who are serving or have served, is an honor.

Rebecca had the privilege of serving in the US Navy Nurse Corps for 5 yrs. She served military members and their families at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Naval Hospital Jacksonville. She is also a proud military spouse who supported her husband’s 26 yrs of naval service.

Military families face many challenges when navigating the healthcare system: frequent moves, frequent change in providers, limited local family or community support and limited community resources.

At Space Coast Lactation, we strive to be the consistent in your inconsistency. We provide childbirth, breastfeeding and infant care & safety education. We are also here to support your infant feeding goals and 4th trimester needs.

To every veteran and every military family out there: THANK YOU….today and everyday. We are honored to support you. ❤️

About Me...

Hi, I’m Rebecca Goff. I am a board certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). I serve families on the Space Coast of FL (Brevard, S. Volusia, Seminole and E. Orange Counties, and military installations) as a private practice lactation consultant by providing advanced, professional, compassionate and evidenced-based breastfeeding support and education in your home.

I am usually available for visits on short notice to include nights, weekends and holidays. If you don’t see availability on my schedule please call, text, or email. I will be happy to work to accommodate you and your baby.

I am a mother of 3 children, all who were breastfed but had their own unique breastfeeding challenges. It was through those challenges that I gained a deeper understanding and empathy of the struggles and successes that families experience during their breastfeeding journeys.

I am a proud veteran, and served as an active duty Navy Nurse. I also am a Navy spouse, and I understand the unique challenges that our military families encounter. Frequent relocation, deployment, barriers in accessibility to care, combat readiness and lack of support are just a few of these challenges. Despite all of these obstacles, I want to support you and help you achieve your breastfeeding goals.
