It is National Day of Rest for Black Woman today, March 10, 2025. This day commemorates the anniversary of Harriet Tubman's death on March 10, 1913 when she went on to eternal rest. Harriet Tubman's work leading enslaved people to freedom through the Underground Railroad and subsequent abolitionist work, paved the way for a world where I, an educated Black woman, can run a small business and continue the revolutionary work of healing people of color. Unlike, Ancestor Tubman, my rest isn't coming upon death, it comes in frequent waves like the ebbing tide. I flourish in rest. I thrive in rest. I love in rest. I restore in rest. And today, I rested for most of the morning. After a slow wake up, I went to an orthodontist appointment followed by a massage at the new Woodhouse Spa. It was a luxurious and much needed break from reality. I thanked myself for spending the time, energy, and money to ensure my rest. I set the phone to DND, and sipped cinnamon tea under blankets while the sun drenched my face. I closed my eyes under a weighted pillow, and I rested. It was divine. Though, I worked the afternoon, I am grateful that the days are longer and the evenings feel more full. Thank you for believing in my private practice and choosing me as your therapist. I choose rest so that I can continue to give my best to you. Thank you for trusting me. ✨
Thank you sister, Joi McGowan for inviting me to rest today. I hope you enjoyed your day. ☺️
