Darlington School senior Presley returned to the basketball court Thursday during the annual Rome Seven Hills Rotary Christmas Tournament — a comeback a year in the making.
Dixon was injured in the first game of last year’s tournament, tearing both her MCL and ACL. She was treated at the Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center Emergency Care Center, had surgery to repair her injuries and has been working with her Atrium Health Floyd athletic trainer and physical therapy team to get ready for her return.
Athletic trainer Donny was at Presley’s side through it all. “Even at surgery, Donny was there,” Presley’s dad, Chad said. “When something like this happens and you have people like Donny in your corner, it’s important. We trust Donny’s word.”
Donny, along with physical therapist Darius and physical therapy assistant Jessica, became Team Presley throughout 2025, working to help her get back on the court for her senior season — and to play alongside her younger sister, Kendall.
“They were always communicating and texting. They were always on top of it, and they were always available. I don’t know what we would do without them,” Chad said.
