Friends, neighbors, makers, growers, herbalists, and everyone who has ever found connection inside The Hive — we need your help to raise $1200 to transition The Hive into its full iteration, immediately. ($920 left as of 9:44PM on 12/5)
We are transforming The Hive into a community-run cooperative, connected with the Downtown Rome Community Garden/ Rome Community Gardens Cooperative Inc. (registered as a non-profit corporation; in the process of 501c3 approval).
This new space will be a home for:
🌱 Cottage food makers
🌿 Local agriculture & herbalism
👐 Low-cost, community-led classes
👩🎤 live Music & wellness events that feed the garden
🤝 A flexible meeting space for groups & creatives
🥘 Community Potlucks & Mutual Aid
🛍️ A small marketplace featuring local makers that sustains the gardens
This shift is exactly what Rome has been asking for — a shared, sustainable, community-powered hub.
But right now, we’re at a critical moment:
We must raise $1,200 immediately to secure the building during this transition.
Rent is $600/month, and we need two months to shift from a private business into a community-supported model.
Without this short-term support, we risk losing the space before the co-op can be born. After this, the shop and each resale, low cost class and event will help sustain the ventures of the garden as we transition into the ability to receive grants.
🌼 HOW YOU CAN HELP TODAY
Even before the official GoFundMe/MoneyDolly launches, you can contribute right now. Every bit helps while we get the fundraising tools set up.
Here are the suggested giving tiers:
$10 – “A Seed”
A small but powerful act of community care.
$25 – “A Garden Bed”
Helps cover class supplies + shared resources.
$50 – “A Brick in the Foundation”
A meaningful step toward securing the building.
$100 – “Community Keeper”
Helps us hold the space for an entire week.
$300 – “Sponsor a Month (Half)”
Covers half of one month’s rent — huge impact.
$600 – “Guardian of the Hive”
You’d secure one full month of community space.
Any amount truly matters.
Even $5 gets us closer.
🌿 WHY THIS MATTERS
This space isn’t just a shop — it’s where people have learned, created, healed, shared food, made friendships, and found community.
Turning it into a co-op means:
✨ affordable homesteading and homemaker classes
✨ local food access
✨ opportunities for cottage businesses
✨ a gathering space for Rome
✨ programs supported by the Downtown Rome Community Garden - like horticultural therapy and more.
This is something that belongs to all of us — if we keep it alive.
