Look at these cute little hats! 🥹❤️ I remember when a hat was all that Carter could wear was a hat because he was so little. Many parents of micro-preemies can relate.

NICU parents are inundated with daily medical reports, adjusting to the new normal of the hospital, caring for their babies, healing and trying to remain positive for their little ones. Oftentimes they won’t ask for help but here are just a few suggestions of the ways that they can be supported. NICU parents what else should we add to this list?

👨🏽‍⚕️💙🩺 Last week Carter had his yearly EKG and he did so well. We are continuing on with the plan to follow-up once a year for his PVC’s. This is just one of the many ways that premature birth continues to show up even at 7 years old. We are thankful that he’s doing so very well!

*Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) are extra heartbeats that begin in one of the heart’s two lower pumping chambers (ventricles).

When Carter was born he had a breathing tube for several months. During this time he missed out on learning how to eat and developed a lot of trauma about anything being near his mouth. Since that time he has eaten yogurt but recently stopped eating altogether. Slowly but surely we are working on getting him back into eating with the help of feeding therapy. It is times like these where we are grateful for his feeding tube.
