Is it resistance, or is it momentum?
It comes up over and over in my classes "I want to slow down, pause, find some ease, but I just can't seem to make myself do it."
And I have to admit, even after many years and many hours of practice, even when I have the space cleared on my calendar - I still sometimes notice a subtle but powerful something that feels like resistance when it's time to stop doing and simply allow myself to just be.
But it's not resistance. It's not that I don't want to hit the pause button, or that anything is in the way of doing so.
I love it and get so much out of it every single time, so honestly, what is there to resist? Why does it still feel like swimming upstream some of the time?
Because it IS swimming upstream - against a current with massive momentum - the momentum of lifetime of striving and trying to get somewhere or make something happen; the momentum of the pervasive message that if I'm not being productive, I'm not worthy; and the momentum of a lifelong habit of paying way more attention to what I'm doing than to how I'm being.
There are three things that help curb the momentum of that current and make it way easier to pause and just be
* Guidance
* Structure
* Community
