AAP President Dr. Susan J. Kressly responds to the recent changes on the CDC’s website - “The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website has been changed to promote false information suggesting vaccines cause autism. Since 1998, independent researchers across seven countries have conducted more than 40 high-quality studies involving over 5.6 million people. The conclusion is clear and unambiguous: There’s no link between vaccines and autism. Anyone repeating this harmful myth is misinformed or intentionally trying to mislead parents.

We call on the CDC to stop wasting government resources to amplify false claims that sow doubt in one of the best tools we have to keep children healthy and thriving: routine immunizations. The American Academy of Pediatrics stands with members of the autism community who have asked for support in stopping this rumor from spreading any further."

PORTAL improvements are here! We can now directly attach forms and things to the portal messages we send back to you -- like school forms, etc. They'll appear now as just a link as part of the message. This works on phones or a desktop browser, too!!

We're happy to complete forms when you upload them to the portal. We try to get through these quickly, but it may take a few days, especially if your usual doctor isn't in the office for a few days. Please upload forms ONLY IN PDF FORMAT. Photos of pages of a form that you take with your phone can't be cleanly edited. And please make sure if you have multiple kids that you're using the correct child's portal. That ensures accuracy and privacy.

Photo below -- just a nerdy thing that happens to be Dr. Roy's fave viddie game.

RSV season is here, with numbers creeping up in ATL. This infection is particularly rough in the youngest babies.

Fortunately it can be effectively prevented. Pregnant women should get an RSV vaccine during RSV season at least 2 weeks before delivery. If that doesn't happen, your newborn can get an injection of RSV-preventing immunoglobin at the birth hospital, or at our office. This is ONLY AVAILABLE for babies 0-7 months of age, and isn't needed if mom got her vaccine during pregnancy.

A wave of the highly contagious respiratory syncytial virus is beginning to wash over the United States, sending greater numbers of babies and toddlers to the hospital for professional care.

Measles spreads fast and is extremely contagious... but after children receive the MMR shots, their immune systems can spot measles, mumps, and rubella. So if they are exposed to these germs, their bodies will be ready to resist.

As measles cases continue to climb, it’s more important than ever to ensure kids are up to date on their vaccines. Pediatricians are always ready to talk with parents about the MMR vaccine if they have any questions.
