As Pick With Austin works on resolving some of our funding needs, we hope to begin providing a more regular offering of free instruments at the CITY ART GALLERY in Round Rock, TX. The past several months we have been kept busy getting guitars and other instruments refurbished and out into the hands of kids in the local schools, juvenile services, church youth groups, and mental health programs. We do also provide (mostly guitars) to the general community through the (new) Gallery on Main Street (Round Rock).

Here is the prep for the new sign/flyer that we will be using with the guitars display at the Gallery. Stay tuned also for information soon about our guitar building classes, and more!

Since 2010, Pick With Austin has distributed around 2,000 guitars and musical instruments into the community. It's a lot of work, as most instruments need to be repaired, cleaned up, or refurbished first. YOU CAN HELP by helping to support our costs for our new additional storage facility.

We have never tried GoFundMe before... and I hate to initiate this... but as we grow, we need more storage space for instruments. Most of our support comes by way of people donating old guitars or other instruments, and financially most actual costs come out of my pocket (and via donations from my own business).

We needed another storage space and it is not in our (non existent) budget. Any help will ensure that we can keep on providing our free music programs, and even more, in the community.

Pick With Austin has been receiving a lot of messages the past few days requesting free guitars. Please read about our mission and how it affects where our free musical instruments go to:

We do provide free instruments of all kinds (guitars in particular).

We do not ship or deliver to individuals. All instruments must be picked up from us. Delivery exceptions include schools, hospitals, youth centers, etc.

Our target are kids ages 8 through 18 who are experiencing depression, or other mental health related issues. We also provide where there are potential economic issues (where kids or families cannot afford).

All requests for free instruments must begin with completion of our Service Request Form. This form can be found as a PDF download near the bottom of our main website page.

We do accept donations of new or used instruments at one of our two drop off locations. These locations are for drop off only, please do not go to them asking for guitars. Use our request form, which you can text or email to us.

We do distribute close to 200 instruments every year. If you are representing a school, a youth program, or another 501c3, please contact us directly.

We have locations in the Austin area (Round Rock), as well as in the Detroit, Michigan, area. Future goals are to add more cities!
