On February 27th at 7pm, we will be gathering at moms house to send balloons/lanterns to heaven for Ashley. We will also be having her absolutely favorite… chocolate cake. It has been a tough year for all of us, learning to navigate life without her, but we hope you’ll join us to celebrate her life. 🤍
Please let one of us know if you plan to attend. 🎈

At 6:11 pm today, we held Ashley’s hand as she went to be with our grandparents and Gracianna in heaven. She is no longer suffering or in pain and in that our family finds peace.

Thank you to everyone who has prayed, hoped, wished and supported us through this unimaginable time.

After speaking with Ashley’s doctors and ecmo specialists this morning we have the following updates to share:

The EEG showed some brain function but also moderate swelling. The doctor does NOT want to give us any false hope, as they do not know how much neurological function remains or how much damage has been done.
At this time they are prepping to move her to CT to hopefully find out a little more.
They also plan to place her on CRRT which is a slow continuous dialysis machine to hopefully remove some of the swelling and fluid from her body.
They are concerned about the circulation to her limbs.
Her doctor says all we can do is wait, hope, pray to who or whatever we believe in and continue to piece together the puzzle.
He also told us if he gets to a point where he feels we’re no longer helping her and this care is no longer benefiting her, he will come to us and tell us.

Thank you to everyone who has been right along side us on the journey; sending prayers, love and hope to our family.

We will continue to update here, as we receive information.

This morning we were informed that Ashley’s heart is relying on the pace maker 100%. It is no longer beating on its own. She also has not regained neurological function since last nights surgery.

At this point they are setting her up for an EEG which will take 12-24 hours. They are watching for seizure activity and to get a reading on her neurological status. They are weaning her from all of the anesthetic to see if her loss of neurological function is anesthesia related or if it was caused by loss of oxygen and blood flow.

If she regains neurological function Dr Shannon feels they could possibly consult U of M of Henry Ford for a heart transplant.
At this point everything is on hold while we evaluate neurological function.

Dr Shannon made it clear that she is in worse shape than she was prior to last nights surgery but the surgery had to be done.

All we can hope now is that her neurological function returns as the anesthesia continues to leave her system.

Please pray. 🙏🏼

Ashley’s surgeon just came out.
They did double bypass and replaced the valve.
She remains on ecmo.
He says all we can do now is wait.
He anticipates it will be close to a week before they can attempt to wean her from ecmo and evaluate brain and heart function.

Thank you all for the love and support. Please continue to pray. 🙏🏼

At this time, all we know is that surgery has concluded and they are preparing to move Ashley back to 3E. We are waiting for the doctors to come in and talk to us. Update to come as we hear more. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

They are prepping the OR to take Ashley back to replace another valve. There is exterior pressure pushing on the arteries and they have to relieve that. The arteries have moved and therefor they are unable to place stents.

This surgery will take many hours and is highly complicated since this is her third time having this done. He said expect an update later tonight after surgery.

At this point we need prayers that surgery goes well and her heart is able to make it through this. The doctors say we have to take it hour by hour at this point.

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers and support.

Good morning, I was asked to consent to a echo for Ashley this morning. What they found is her other VALVE went bad, she is currently at the cath lab. And is potentially having a heart attack. She will need to have valve fixed ASAP. All is ask, is for your prayers. ❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
