🦠 When a Child Suddenly Can’t Walk After the Flu
It can be very scary for parents if a child suddenly refuses to walk or complains of severe leg pain a few days after having the flu. One possible cause is post-influenza viral myositis, a temporary inflammation of the muscles — most commonly affecting the calves.
Children may experience calf pain, difficulty walking, and elevated muscle enzymes (CK levels). The reassuring news is that in most cases, this condition is temporary and improves within a few days with rest, hydration, and monitoring.
However, sudden leg pain or difficulty walking should always be evaluated to rule out other conditions and ensure proper care.
