Most people think they need more motivation, more discipline, and more consistency.

But honestly, you’re just negotiating too much.

Think about brushing your teeth. You don’t always feel like it. You’re not motivated. You don’t get excited about it.

But you still do it, because it’s a standard.

That’s the shift.

When something becomes a standard, it’s no longer up for debate. It’s just how you live.

So stop relying on how you feel…and start building standards that align with who you’re becoming.

That’s where consistency comes from.

Waking up at a similar time.
Eating in a rhythm.
Moving your body regularly.

Because when the body knows what to expect, it stops resisting.

And that’s where consistency finally sticks.

If you’re a woman in your 30s, 40s, or heading into perimenopause and feel like your body suddenly changed…especially around your belly, read this.

This isn’t about laziness.
This isn’t about lack of discipline.

This is metabolic adaptation.

What I see over and over is years, sometimes decades, of cycling between extremes:

1200 calories.
Exhaustion.
Overeating.
Starting over again.

And eventually…your body adapts.

Because your body is incredibly intelligent.

When calories stay low for long periods, your body doesn’t say: “Let’s burn more fat.”

It says: “Energy is scarce. We need to survive.”

So it slows things down.

Your metabolism downshifts.
Your thyroid output decreases.
You burn less energy.

And if you’re not eating enough protein or strength training? Your body breaks down muscle to conserve fuel.

And muscle is what keeps your metabolism strong.

I used to think fat loss was just about eating less and moving more.

But that approach can backfire when your metabolic health is off (or you are in perimenopause).

When insulin is constantly elevated from frequent snacking, high carbs, and blood sugar swings…your body struggles to access its own stored fat for fuel.

So what do most people do?

They cut calories harder.
Add more cardio.
And end up tired, hungry, and frustrated.

A more strategic approach focuses on improving insulin sensitivity first.

That looks like:

• Protein centric meals
• Being intentional and strategic with carbohydrate intake
• Strength training to build muscle
• Giving your body time between meals
• Repairing your nervous system
When your body becomes more metabolically flexible, it can actually use stored fat for energy.

Fat loss stops feeling like a constant battle.

It becomes sustainable.

And honestly…it feels a lot more peaceful.

Leah, you are steady and strong in the quietest way. You observe. You listen. You feel deeply. And somehow, when you speak, it’s always the exact right thing, wise, kind, grounded in truth, and rooted in your unshakable connection to God.

You build people up. You tell the truth gently. You love fiercely.
And sometimes out of nowhere…you drop a oneliners that make me laugh.

You are an incredible athlete and coach, always drawing the best out of others, but what I admire most is the way you nurture your friendships and relationships. Loyal. Loving. Intentional. Always seeking growth. Always seeking deeper connection.

There are too few words for a woman like you.
