IV Hydration Therapy:
All About The Myers’ Cocktail
Among the many IV hydration treatments on the market, few have seen as much interest in recent years as the Myers’ Cocktail. Yet, despite its popularity, many people do not know much about the Myers’ Cocktail aside from the name.
Here at Elite Family Care & IV Infusions, we are proud to include the Myers’ Cocktail alongside the variety of IV hydration therapy treatments we have to offer. We are happy to answer a few common questions people have about this popular treatment.
Let us take a minute to review the basics:
What is the history of the Myers’ Cocktail?
In the 1960s, Dr. John Myers, a physician at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, pioneered the use of IV infusion as a more efficient means of delivering vitamins and minerals to the body. After Myers’ death in 1984, his work was built upon by Dr. Alan Gaby, who developed and popularized what we know today as the Myers’ Cocktail.
What is in it?
There are many slight variations on the Myers’ Cocktail, but Dr. Gaby’s formula of Vitamin C, magnesium, calcium, and a complex of B vitamins forms the foundation of the treatment today.
At Elite Family Care & IV Infusions, we use a similar mix of the Myers’ Cocktail formula that consists of:
–Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Thiamine (Vitamin B1), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), Dexpanthenol (Vitamin B5), Vitamin B12, Magnesium, and Calcium.
Who can benefit from treatment?
Anecdotal evidence has shown the Myers’ Cocktail to be effective at helping a range of conditions, from fatigue and migraine headaches, to allergies, asthma, fibromyalgia, and more.
But you do not need to be sick to enjoy the benefits of the Myers’ Cocktail. If you are looking to boost energy levels, boost immune system function, and keep your body hydrated and vitamin efficient, a Myers’ Cocktail infusion could be just the answer.
Are there any side effects?
Some patients have reported minor side effects including irritation at the injection site, a brief feeling of lightheadedness, a sensation of heat, or a metallic taste in the mouth. These effects are typically brief in duration.
