One of the most used piece of furniture in an infants room will be the dresser/changing table. There are so many cute ideas. A few tips would be to hang some fun art where infant can see it and half a few pacifiers near to keep infant occupied while changing diapers/clothes. Also keep a basket of wipes, diapers, diaper ointments and lotion on top of the dresser near the changing mat. We will talk about organizing those drawers tomorrow!

A quality sound machine is another must have for your nursery. My favorite is the SNOObie from Happiest Baby. White noise helps your little one fall asleep and stay asleep. Newborns are used to a noise level of around 80db so they are use to being surrounded by sound! The optimal level for your sound machine is 60-70db. This is just enough white noise to activate a baby’s calming reflex, which is their inborn “on switch” for sleep. The Snoobie also doubles as a night light, helping you to see for middle of the night feedings and diaper changes.

A nursery must have if you are planning to breastfeed is the My Brest Friend. Proper positioning makes all the difference when breastfeeding. My Brest Friend is specifically designed to make breastfeeding more comfortable. The supportive backrest encourages good posture during breastfeeding and prevents neck and shoulder strain. It is also great at minimizing strain at the elbows and wrists. My Brest Friend boasts a unique shape and is the only pillow that fits snuggly against the wearer, eliminating the gap that most crescent-shaped and U-shaped nursing pillows have. This is especially important to facilitate proper latching for consistent feedings.

A recliner/rocker may be the most important piece of furniture in your baby’s nursery. You will be spending many hours in your baby’s nursery snuggling, feeding, and holding them. You’ll want and need a comfortable, supportive place to sit. You will want to be able to recline in your chair too. It is going to be very important for those late nights when you need to rest your eyes and body in baby’s room. One of my favorite rocker recliners is The Glider from Nurture&. It may be on the pricey side but well worth it. You can find it here:
