I’m not usually someone who posts about myself, but the comments and messages I’ve been receiving have motivated me to share…
I’m now over 40 pounds down postpartum. As a practitioner, I truly believe in practicing what I preach. I walk the walk and talk the talk. I’m not anyone special — I’ve simply built foundational habits that have supported me throughout my postpartum journey.
This hasn’t been about perfection. There have been weeks where I’ve missed workouts. My nutrition, hydration, and sleep aren’t always perfect either. But the reason I’ve been able to lose the weight in a healthy way is because I built the foundation before pregnancy.
Before getting pregnant, I was consistent in the gym, I ate well, rarely had fast food (minus the occasional In-N-Out), and I didn’t drink alcohol. Over time, this taught my body what “normal” feels like what we call homeostasis.
During pregnancy, I kept those same habits. And now in postpartum, my focus has been nourishing my body so I can breastfeed and moving my body when I’m able to.
The body often returns to what it knows. When you build long-term healthy habits, things like vacations, holidays, or even pregnancy may be bumps in the road but when you return to your routine, your body remembers how to get back on track.
The takeaway: do the work early and consistently, and the results follow over time.
I’m excited to keep rebuilding my strength. This experience has humbled me and also taught me a lot of grace. One small habit each day truly can make a difference!
