Did you know?

In 2024, over 15,000 people in Canada used Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD). In California? Just 1,032.

Despite legal access since 2016, MAiD remains underutilized here in part because too few doctors participate, and too many people still don’t know it’s an option.

What we’ve learned:
🩺 Only 346 of California’s 150,000+ doctors wrote MAiD prescriptions last year.
🧾 One-third of people who receive the medication never use it—but having it offers peace of mind.
🧓 Most users were already on hospice, died at home, and were living with cancer or other serious illness.
