In the spirit of the holidays, we take a moment to look back and reflect on where we began. 💙
From our roots in 1989 responding to the AIDS crisis as CARES, to becoming One Community Health, our mission has always been the same: standing with our community, advocating for equality, and caring for the whole person with compassion. As we look back with gratitude, we move forward together, continuing to heal, serve, and uplift our community.

Winter is officially here ❄️
A new season is the perfect reminder to change your toothbrush. Dentists recommend replacing it every 3–4 months, or sooner if the bristles are worn. A fresh toothbrush helps remove plaque more effectively and keeps your smile healthy all winter long! 🦷

7 Simple Tips for a Healthier (and Happier!) Holiday Season 🥗🎄
The holidays are meant to be enjoyed, food included. Here’s how to feel your best without missing out:
1️⃣ Indulge… mindfully
There’s no such thing as “bad” food. Enjoy your favorites, savor them, and let go of the guilt.
2️⃣ Build a balanced holiday plate
Think balance, not restriction. Fill half your plate with veggies, add lean protein, and finish with starch. Love it? Go back for seconds — just keep the balance.
3️⃣ Don’t skip meals
Skipping meals can backfire. Eat regularly and try a protein- and fiber-rich snack before holiday gatherings to avoid overeating.
4️⃣ Stay hydrated 💧
Water helps with energy, digestion, and cravings. If you’re enjoying alcohol, alternate each drink with water.
5️⃣ Get up and move 🚶♀️
A short walk, stretching, or playing with family can boost your mood and help your body feel better after big meals.
6️⃣ Enjoy traditions (not perfection)
The holidays are about connection. Enjoy the moment, then gently return to your routine at your next meal.
7️⃣ Get creative in the kitchen
Use herbs, spices, and fresh ingredients to add big flavor without feeling weighed down.
✨ Remember: one meal or one day won’t make or break your health. Small, supportive choices add up.

We are grateful for an incredible 2nd Annual Sexual Health Summit yesterday, planned by the Sacramento Prevention Coalition, which includes two of our HIV Prevention Team members. With a full registration list of over 100 guests, there was discussion of STI trends in the Sacramento region, Rx assistance programs such as PrEP-AP, and the newest forms of HIV prevention. It was inspiring to gather providers from across our community to strengthen collaboration and share knowledge. Our HIV Prevention Team cannot wait to get started on planning for next year. 💙

The One Community Health Communications and Experience team was proud to attend the Toy Drive hosted by Councilmember Phil Pluckebaum at Midtown Association this morning. Our team brought toys to donate and enjoyed connecting with community members, local advocates, and business professionals who are all working toward a stronger, more supportive community. It's these moments of connection and giving that genuinely reflect the heart of our mission! 💙 🎄
