Diary of an Emotional Eater: Secret Eating Edition🍪🍫🧁

Secret eating is so embarrassing, even if you’re alone.

😒Eating in the car.
😒Hiding wrappers.
😒Promising it’s the last time.

Please let me help you get rid of that shame.❤️

☀️Secret eating is rarely about willpower. It’s often about protection and safety.

In midlife, overeating and emotional eating aren’t just about food. 💯💯

Hormones are shifting. Blood sugar is less stable. Stress is higher. Your nervous system is overloaded. Food can feel like comfort, comf soothing, relief, or the only thing that’s YOURS.

It’s usually an attempt to meet a need quietly.

Instead of guilt, try curiosity.👇👇
What was I feeling? What did I actually need?

❤️Shame keeps the cycle going. Compassion helps break it.

😳For a long time, I was the poster child for doing midlife the HARD way.

⭐️I doubled down on dieting.
⭐️I pushed harder in my workouts.
⭐️U thought if I just had more discipline, I could outwork the weight gain, the belly fat, the brain fog, the mood swings.😩😩

In my defense… I didn’t even know I was going through menopause. I took it as a personal failure somehow.

No one explained that estrogen and progesterone would drop.👇
That cortisol would rise when I was stressed and overtraining.👆

This part was the worst… That insulin resistance could quietly creep in and make my usual “eat less, move more” plan backfire. I ate more emotionally and I stored more fat.

So I blamed myself.

If you’re doing all the things and still feeling stuck, it might not be a motivation problem. It might be hormones, stress, and blood sugar working behind the scenes. In fact… I can almost guarantee it.

Midlife changes the rules.
You’re not crazy for feeling confused by your body. I’m here to help you through that.

🌺💕Follow for more support as you learn how to work with your hormones instead of fighting them.

If you’ve been feeling “off” in your late 30s, 40s, or 50s… this is the conversation you didn’t know you needed.🙌🙌

⭐️Mood swings that don’t feel like you.
⭐️Waking up at 2 or 3am.
⭐️Weight gain even though you’re doing all the “right” things.
⭐️Anxiety out of nowhere.
⭐️Joint pain.
⭐️Random food sensitivities.

You’re not imagining it. And it’s not just stress.😩
👇👇
In this episode with Michelle White, we break down what perimenopause really is, the four stages, why labs can look normal, and what you can actually do to support your body.💥💥

This isn’t about fear.
It’s about understanding what’s happening so you can advocate for yourself and get help.

I was doing all the things.🙌🙌

Working out. Eating clean. Tracking. Staying disciplined.😳😳

And I still had a midlife belly that wouldn’t budge.😫😫

I’d scroll and see influencers making it look effortless, and I felt frustrated. 😤Maybe even a little angry. Why was it so easy for them and not for me?

Here’s what I learned.
👇👇
It wasn’t a willpower problem. It was hormones.💯💯

My estrogen was shifting. My progesterone was dropping. My cortisol was up. I was insulin resistant. Of course my body was holding onto weight.👀

You can’t out-discipline or out diet hormonal changes. Big lesson for me.

If you’re a hormonal woman over 40 navigating midlife and wondering why your body feels different even though you’re doing everything “right,” you’re not alone.

Follow for real support around hormones, emotional eating, and midlife body changes.❤️❤️❤️

This episode felt full circle.😊

Ren was on Episode 4 when this podcast was just beginning. Now he’s back on Episode 143, and the growth in both of us is real.🙌🙌 Not just with podcasting, but really we discussed our growth and coaching.

It’s humbling, real and the best thing that could ever happen for us and our clients.

We talk about menopause confusion, fitness trends, intermittent fasting, creatine, weight loss drugs, strength training, and what it actually means to be menopause informed without pretending to be a medical expert.

But more than that, we talk about something women over 40 desperately need in coaching.

🌺No fear.
🌺No yelling.
🌺No “this is the only way.”
🌺No shame.

Just thoughtful conversation about how to choose what works for your body.⭐️⭐️ You are truly an experiment and can try whatever you want.

And yes… I put him through a rapid fire round at the end. You’re going to want to hear his answers.🎧🎧

If you’re navigating midlife and tired of conflicting advice, this episode will make you feel so much better.

⭐️If you’ve ever wondered why emotional eating feels harder in midlife, why trying to control food just makes things worse, or why your body feels constantly stressed and overloaded, 🎙️ this episode is for you.🙌🙌

Because what if the problem isn’t willpower?💥💥

What if it’s not discipline, motivation, or another diet you haven’t followed perfectly?

Today, I’m sitting down with MJ Murray Vachon, a licensed clinical social worker with nearly 40 years of experience, for a conversation I truly loved.

👉We talk about what’s really happening for women in midlife, from nervous system overload and emotional eating to the cultural and technological pressures that quietly keep us stuck.😕

MJ shares practical tools to calm the body, let go of food rules, and reconnect with yourself in ways that actually work in this season of life.🌺

If you’re feeling emotionally overloaded or frustrated with food, keep listening wherever you listen to your favorite podcasts.🎧

I was soooo wrong🤣🤣

I remember sitting with a friend years ago while she talked about estrogen and menopause… and I honestly had no idea what I was talking about.

I truly thought, “I’ll just go natural when the time comes.”

No plan. No understanding. No clue what was actually happening in my body.😫😫😝

Fast forward to midlife and here’s the TRUTH:

If I hadn’t learned about hormones, I would still be dealing with gut issues, stubborn weight gain, skin changes, brain fog, mood swings, poor sleep, and that constant feeling of something being off. Ugh!!!!

Menopause isn’t just hot flashes.💯

This isn’t about fear.
It’s about information.
And giving women permission to use the tools that help them feel like themselves again.

If you’re navigating midlife and wondering why your body feels off, you may be hormonal.

And you deserve support💜, not silence.🤐

Follow for honest conversations about menopause, hormones, emotional eating, and what actually helps women over 40 feel better in their bodies.

Are you actually addicted to sugar…🍪

or are you just stressed out?

So many women tell me they feel “out of control” around sugar. But what’s really happening most of the time isn’t an addiction, it’s your nervous system asking for relief.😫😫

Sugar calms.🤍
It soothes.🤍
It gives quick comfort when your body and brain feel overwhelmed.🤍

Midlife stress, hormone shifts, mental load, decision fatigue, people pleasing, rushing through meals, not eating enough earlier in the day… all of that puts your nervous system on high alert. 😕

And when your system is dysregulated, it looks for the fastest way to feel better. 💥💥💥Sugar just happens to work quickly. I feel you! Sugar was my go to for years, and I didn’t even know that I was using it to soothe myself.

The problem isn’t that you’re weak or undisciplined or lacking willpower👇👇

The problem is that calming your nervous system has been replaced with coping through food.

There’s so many coping mechanisms, but sugar is really one of the easiest ones to get a hold of🍦🧁

⭐️⭐️And this is why emotional eating isn’t really about the food.⭐️⭐️

Healing this starts with learning how to feel safe in your body again. Slowing down. Eating enough. Regulating stress. Creating moments of calm that don’t involve food.

If this hit home, you’re not alone. ❤️Follow along for real support around emotional eating and learning how to calm your nervous system instead of fighting your cravings.
XOXO,
Kim🌺💕🌺

Is menopause making you laugh or cry or both?

I’m so excited about this episode! You are going to love it.🙌🙌🙌

💥Sometimes you record a podcast and you just know it’s special. This conversation felt easy, honest, and exactly like what midlife women need more of right now.

I found Jen on social media, loved her humor and honesty, and thought, I have to talk to her. I wanted to share her with everyone and I wanted to be her friend 😂

⭐️⭐️ OK What came out of that was a real conversation about menopause, hormones, ADHD, weight gain, food sensitivities, hormone therapy, and that feeling of not knowing whether to laugh or cry because everything seems to be happening at once.

👉This episode is relatable, validating, and somehow both light and deep at the same time. If you’ve ever thought, why does midlife feel so hard, you’re going to feel very seen by this one.

Episode 141 is live. Let me know what resonates with you when you listen.💕💕💕

You’re not going crazy 😫

Why am I checking everything twice? ✨

You lock the door.
You check the stove.
You unplug the curling iron.
You walk away… and then your body says, go check again.😡

🌸 If this is you in midlife, you’re not losing your mind.

Here is what’s going on!
Low estrogen can crank up anxiety and keep your nervous system on high alert, even when everything is actually fine.

⭐ So you double check.
⭐ You triple check.
⭐ And your body still doesn’t feel calm.

💗 This isn’t about being dramatic or “too sensitive.”
It’s your body asking for safety. Give yourself compassion, Grace and just slow things down a little bit.❤️

🌷 You don’t have to do this alone.
