It’s my transplantiversary! 14 years ago today, I received a lifesaving transplant. Not a day goes by Andy doesn’t cross my mind. I am forever thankful for his friends and family for thinking of my needs in their time of loss. I was given the projection of 10 years with this kidney and made it to 14 before it started to fizzle out. It’s a weird feeling to know that it’s time to look for a new one. What would Andy’s family feel? Will a new one work just as good or better? When will I get it? Will I have to start dialysis before?

Today, I celebrate having been blessed with a wonderful 14 years and how much of a full life I was able to have with a transplant.

Needing some ideas for fundraising 🤔 Leah has wonderful health insurance but will need to raise money for out of pocket costs, co-pays, prescription co-pays, and loss of income while she is out of work for 3 months. What are some ideas that you have seen?

Went for my monthly labs yesterday. Everything still on track, just waiting and hoping for living donors to be approved and tested.

I am officially listed on the transplant list as of today!!!!🫶🏼🫘♻️

I have a few potential donors, however, was told to get as many as possible as testing may not always be perfect the first try. If you wish to get tested to see if you’re a match to donate a kidney I’ll leave the direct link below to fill out the questionnaire to see if you qualify to donate the gift of life🫶🏼♻️

Sparing you all the major details, I was told today that if I can get a living donor qualified, I can go back to being a healthy feisty lady again. I haven’t started dialysis and I am hoping not to start as that will dramatically decrease my quality of life. I am still trying to stay active and have fun, but the reality is that I am pooped much faster than before and am so swollen due to prednisone. Please spread the word that I am looking for an amazing person to be that lifelink for me. A few have applied, (but I am not able to know the outcome unless it is a YES…) but they will gladly take as many applicants as possible to ensure the best outcome. I finished up all my evaluations and testing today (22 tests/consults)! So far they are saying green flags. Final committee for approval to be placed on the national donation list will meet in the next few weeks. I’m not allowed to know the details of potential living donors or who/how many have filled out applications. This is for obvious reasons (testing goes bad, someone backs out, they don’t qualify). So, until I have a surgery date I am going to please ask for your good thoughts and for you to continue to share this page and spread the word I’m looking for a new bean 🫘! Thank you! Leah!
