Just as an example, a high school girls soccer season (at least in Florida) can last from the middle of October to the beginning of March. If you cut out lifting during that time, you’ve just thrown nearly 40% of your training year out the window.

There are INCREDIBLY few contexts in which entirely removing resistance training from an athlete’s weekly regimen is a good idea. Operate under the assumption that you are not in one of those contexts.

TRAIN. IN. SEASON.

Simple. Effective. Affordable.

My name is Connor Gettemy. I currently serve as the Director of Sports Performance for the Flagler College Saints, an NCAA Division II school in St. Augustine, Florida. I have worked as a strength and conditioning coach at the Division I, Division II, and NAIA levels. I have also spent a considerable amount of time in the private sector as both a personal trainer and a sports performance coach. I am certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association, the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and United States Weightlifting. I am also PN Level 1 certified through Precision Nutrition.

After spending time in both private personal training and collegiate strength and conditioning, I came to the realization that the most rewarding part of my job is seeing progress. The magnitude of that progress is defined by how significant it is to the person/people I am training. An uninterrupted 30-second plank can be just as significant as a 405lb back squat depending on the goals and aspirations of my client. As such, I have the same level of passion and dedication to any client that I serve and want nothing more than to see them reach their goals.
