So many children struggle to regulate their emotions and not because they’re difficult, but because their nervous systems are still developing. They look to caregivers to help them feel safe with their big feelings. When we sit beside them, slow our breath, soften our voice, and move gently with them, we’re teaching their bodies what calm feels like.
We are mirroring and role modeling what regulation looks like.
Breathing together. Stretching together. Rocking, swaying, grounding and when we mirror regulation through movement and breath, their nervous system begins to match ours. Over time, that shared calm becomes their own ability to self-regulate. Regulation is learned through relationship and it starts with us. 🤍 ✨
