What Happens When the Next Chapter Isn’t Clear?

There’s a myth that one day we’re done—
done growing, done learning, done becoming.

I don’t believe that.

I’ve talked with so many people who reach retirement or a major life transition and suddenly feel lost—not because anything is “wrong,” but because the structure that once gave life meaning is gone.

I experienced that myself after retiring from a 20-year career in law enforcement. I remember sitting on the couch thinking, What now?​
And it wasn’t depression—it was the absence of purpose.

We’re living longer lives. Many of us have decades left after the chapter we thought defined us. And without meaning, we don’t rest—we slowly shrink.

This video is a reminder that growth doesn’t stop just because one chapter ends.
Purpose isn’t optional. It’s essential.
