Unless you’re Virginia Satir, you don’t use your hands often in therapy. It took me a long time into being a therapist to realize that I wasn’t fulfilling a value of mine or prioritizing it in the way I used to in life.

“A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist”

I listened and read this quote and I thought how it applied to me and my work with OCD and therapy in general. So often we try to outsmart our problems or outthink them, we try to use theory to fight our fears. We try to predict and prevent pain. We try to think up elaborate resolutions to our problems to eradicate them. In reality, all we can do is outlive them.

MOVING FORWARD.

All we can do is continue to move forward with life. It’s in the doing, the experience, and the exposure that meaningful change can really start to occur.

I love this quote but I feel like we skip past the hardest part in life is the doing, then the thoughts, inspiration, and passion fulfilled follow 🔆💛

Something has been sitting on my heart for a long time.
As a therapist, I spend my days helping women regulate, process, grow, and heal. And while therapy is powerful… I keep seeing the same thing underneath so much of the anxiety, overwhelm, and self-doubt:
Loneliness.
Disconnection.
Surface-level relationships that don’t actually nourish.
We are not meant to do life alone.

When you’re trying to fall asleep but OCD says, “Wait… better Google one more symptom.” 😅

If you’ve ever spiraled into late-night health searches, contamination fears, or reassurance Googling, you’re not alone. OCD loves uncertainty, and it often shows up strongest when your brain finally slows down at night.

Reassurance seeking (like symptom Googling) can feel helpful in the moment, but it usually keeps OCD stuck in the loop long-term. Real healing often involves learning how to tolerate uncertainty instead of trying to eliminate it.

If this is you, you’re not broken — your brain is trying to protect you, just in an overprotective way.

Resistance is futile….in OCD treatment 👀

Jokes on all my OCD clients because this is actually how I sound this week, I’ve been out sick all week so naturally that means more Instagram videos 💕🤣

It isn’t.
Recovery doesn’t come from answering every question or eliminating every fear. It comes from living your life without certainty—while the doubt comes along for the ride.

Double V Counseling

Double V Counseling came about when I saw that many posts social media which were meant to help people improve their lives and overall mental health weren’t all that specific. They were inspirational yes, but informational and simple.. no. That’s why I created this page, to answer the “How?” to questions about improving mental health. However, I focus heavily on vulnerability because no change can be made without becoming vulnerable!
