OCD will tell you that certainty is a requirement for safety, peace, and progress.
It isn’t.
Recovery doesn’t come from answering every question or eliminating every fear. It comes from living your life without certainty—while the doubt comes along for the ride.
If you’ve been waiting to feel “sure enough” before making a decision, starting something new, or enjoying your life, this is your reminder:
You don’t have to wait.
You can live with uncertainty.
You can move forward with fear.
You can build a meaningful life with OCD—not after it’s gone.
If this resonates, share it with someone whose OCD is telling them to pause their life.

This is one of my favorite scenes from my favorite show. In The West Wing, Leo tells a story about a man who falls into a deep hole.
People pass by— a doctor offers a prescription, a priest offers prayers.
But nothing changes.
Then a friend jumps down into the hole with him.
Not because they’re stuck too—but because they’ve been there before and know the way out.
That story has always stayed with me when I think about the role of a therapist.
Therapy isn’t standing at the top telling you what to do. Not offering platitudes from the sidelines.

It’s sitting beside you in the hard places, helping you understand what’s happening, and walking with you—at your pace—toward something steadier.
The holidays can make the hole feel deeper: more memories, more pressure, more loneliness.
You don’t have to find the way out alone.
If you’re ready to take that step, my schedule is open 🤍

Just a bit of education for those who don’t know and want to keep reading

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) is a group of genetic connective tissue disorders that affect the body's collagen, a protein responsible for providing strength and elasticity to tissues. Because connective tissue is found throughout the body, EDS can impact the skin, joints, blood vessels, organs, and more.

General Symptoms of EDS:

Hypermobile joints (double-jointedness) that dislocate or sublux easily.

Soft, stretchy, or fragile skin that bruises easily.

Chronic pain, particularly in the joints and muscles.

Poor wound healing and scarring.

Digestive issues, fatigue, and autonomic dysfunction in some cases.

There are 13 subtypes of EDS, each with its own unique characteristics and genetic causes. The most common type is Hypermobile EDS (hEDS), which primarily affects joint hypermobility.

Vascular EDS (vEDS) is one of the rarer and more severe types of EDS (life expectancy is only into the 40s) It mainly affects the blood vessels, organs, and skin, making them more fragile and prone to rupture.

Free therapy 5 minutes at a time 😅

Sometimes the conversations between therapists get a little too deep too quickly 😂 Even for our own liking!

The joys of being two therapists that specialize in OCD and couples work, and we have a lot to unload at times 😅

Double V Counseling

Double V Counseling came about when I saw that many posts social media which were meant to help people improve their lives and overall mental health weren’t all that specific. They were inspirational yes, but informational and simple.. no. That’s why I created this page, to answer the “How?” to questions about improving mental health. However, I focus heavily on vulnerability because no change can be made without becoming vulnerable!
