A mom's testimony from a Natural Birth Support Group.
Get the Doula that advocates for you and your birth wishes. 🙋♀️ Your midwife/care provider is on hospital time and follows hospital protocol. I have only had a few unfortunately that have been supportive of having a natural birth.
To put it into perspective . . . . some parents spend THOUSANDS on their wedding, but won't invest into birth support that can make the difference in a traumatic birth (too many) or a beautiful natural birth the way you and God intended. Trust your body, but do the work to learn how to work with your body to birth your baby.
"GET THE DOULA!!!! She advocated and I got everything I wanted, umbilical cord wasn’t cut until pulsing stopped, he never left my arms, NO PITOCIN SHOT at birth #5 l, no pitocin or water breaking during labor,
I gave birth yesterday at 40+4 in the hospital yesterday after my labor stalled. I’ve never experienced that before-all my labors were pretty quick my last 2 were home births and first two were hospitals. I felt a lot of pressure maybe even coerced from the nurses and doctors to break my water, start pitocin, and get a pitocin shot due to being my 5th and low iron at 10 even though i’ve been begging for iron infusions and was told no it’s not low enough 🫤. This is my first birth that I wasn’t forced to get a pitocin after delivery for prevention. I FEEL AMAZING. I truly believe the pitocin is what always made me feel bad after birth with nausea, headaches, and anxiousness. I’m experiencing none of that now. i’ve even actually gotten some good sleep!!
I hired a birth doula YESTERDAY and she completely changed the trajectory of my son’s birth! I’ll never go without a doula again! I also didn’t realize delayed chord clamping in a hospital setting is only 60 seconds! I totally didn’t realize that’s what they meant by “delayed cord clamping” so I was thankful that they allowed me to wait until his cord was done pulsing and white."
