A not so spooky announcement 📣📣

By now many of you are probably aware thousands who received SNAP benefits to help pay for their groceries are losing access to that during the SNAP freeze.

We have received over 309 calls and and texts in 2 days from people trying to figure out how to get food this month.

So next Saturday November 8th we are hosting a grocery distribution! We do require registration to make sure everyone who shows up registered gets groceries so if registration closes that means we are at capacity for the event.

We will have milk, eggs, bread, peanut butter, jelly, oatmeal, kids snacks, varieties of fresh produce, pastas, sauce, rice, and other variations of dry goods!

We’d love the community’s support in donating, volunteering, and spreading the word. The only way through times like these is together 🧡🫡

"We are not taking sides or making this political," the post said. "We just believe that no child should ever go hungry."

👀 Find August-Appropriate, Florida-Grown seeds at seedthestars.etsy.com
🫠 Welcome to August, when your plants and sweat glands are working overtime!

🌿 There’s still time to sow and grow heat-loving annuals and some warm-season crops.

⌛ Toward the end of the month, you can also start seeds for select cool-season crops in preparation for planting out next month—but remember, gardening here is all about watching the weather, not just the calendar. If temperatures stay higher than average, it’s perfectly fine to delay cool-weather crops and focus on heat-tolerant crops for now.

🐛 Pest and disease pressure are especially high this time of year, so stay on top of scouting and keep up with a consistent pest management routine—especially for sensitive crops like cucurbits and tomatoes, which are prone to caterpillars and fungal issues.

🥦 For cool-season seedlings started early, be sure to protect them from intense sun and heat using shade cloth, dappled canopy, or by starting them indoors under grow lights if you have the space.

🌡️ Gardening in Florida is a dance with the climate! Let the temperatures, not just the calendar, guide your timing. Pay attention to what works for your unique growing conditions.
