Let me just expand upon a few of these and please read because it’s important:
#4 “Feeling depressed doesn’t mean there is something wrong with YOU.” We live in a world where g3nocide is okay, our government is adding asbestos BACK INTO cosmetics, gun violence is a daily occurrence, and we all feel powerless to make any change for the better. Depressed feelings? I think we can all agree it would be weirder to NOT be depressed right now. So PLEASE don’t be blaming yourself for the way you are feeling. You’re perfect and wonderful ✨🩷
#8 “Comparison is the thief of joy” As a shop owner, I have gone down the rabbit hole of comparing myself to every other shop out there, wondering how this other person can sell a fleck of dust for $1000 while this other account has 200k followers. After lots of sleuthing, I’ve concluded:
1. Accounts with 100k or more followers are almost always lying. They buy their followers, they buy their likes, and you can even buy your views now. Around 60% of the accounts I find in my niche are faking everything. So don’t compare yourself to them.
2. Taking the time to compare yourself to someone else is WASTING that time. You could be doing so many other things rather than sulk about how you might not be measuring up to their (probably fake) success. Snap out of it and turn your attention towards yourself. Your goals. Your joys. 👏🏼
#9 “Some people are just genuinely bad people” Yes, you will come across genuinely horrible people. Ignore them. Avoid them. I spent a portion of this year supporting a shop that ended up being absolutely vile in the end and I regret that I didn’t protect my own space sooner.
#10 “you serve a purpose” You will find it if you haven’t already. So, hang in there. You have so much value and have probably already given others invaluable experiences without even realizing it. I’m looking at all of the teachers and nurses right now, especially, btw. You literally have no idea how much of an impact you’ve actually already had. 🫶🏼
