Huge Win for Disability Claim Speed! 🚀

Good news for anyone seeking Social Security disability benefits! The eHealth Exchange (which the SSA uses to get your medical records) has officially been "promoted" to a Qualified Health Information Network (QHIN) under the new national TEFCA framework.

The SSA confirmed this week that they expect to be fully "live" on this new network by early spring 2026.

What does this mean for your claim?

1. Universal Access: SSA will now have a "single door" to almost every medical network in the U.S. simultaneously.

2. Instant Delivery: Data that used to take weeks to mail or fax can now arrive in seconds.

3. National Discovery: SSA can search the entire national network to find records you may have forgotten—no more missing evidence!

4. Searchable Data: No more "flat" PDFs. The data uses a new standard language (USCDI) that makes it searchable for specific keywords or lab results.

5. The Full Picture: Records are shifting from brief "cliff notes" summaries to detailed clinical notes and test results. This is expected to be a huge advantage for Veterans who often find their medical care at the VA is great but the paperwork is a nightmare. This technical bridge forces the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) clinical notes to be included with the records sent to SSA without the Veteran having to act as the middleman.

6. Faster Decisions: SSA anticipates this could cut claim processing times by as much as 50% for many applicants.

This is a massive step toward ending the 'paperwork shuffle' and getting benefits to people when they actually need them! 🏥💻

Enjoyed volunteering at the Eureka Cemetery in Lincoln City this morning. The Oregon Coast Veterans Association does a great job organizing their Wreath Across America Event where the honor and remember veterans as well as teach the next generation. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of the local 4-H club who led the color guard. I was very impressed by the maturity these very young ladies exhibited during the entire event. Meaningful event all the way around.
