Wondering if your breastmilk is enough? Contains enough fat, etc? The answer is yes. Your milk contains prebiotics, antibodies, enzymes, and the perfect amount of protein, fat, and carbohydrates for growth and development.
The approximate composition of breast milk is 87% water, 7% lactose, 4% fat, and 1% protein. It also contains immune cells, stem cells, and specific antibodies to whatever your baby has been exposed to in the environment.
You do not need to eat a perfect diet to make perfect milk for your baby. DO aim to hydrate well and eat ENOUGH for good milk supply, and a variety of lactogenic foods like whole grains, beans, legumes, fruits and veggies, and fats. When we eat well, we feel better. This also helps our oxytocin level to rise, therefore helping make more milk!
