An American Classic Returns!

American Optical and Dietz Mclean Optical Company are intertwined going back several generations. Our founder, R.G. "Mac" McLean, began his careers with AO in 1918. He started as a delivery boy at their branch in Houston Texas in 1918. Working in the lab, as a dispensing optician, a traveling salesman and finally the San Antonio Zone manager until retiring to start Dietz-McLean Optical.
