My mom passed away from Alzheimer’s. It was a cruel disease. It took so much of her from us over 8 years. The one thing that always remained was her love of music. It calmed her, connected us and gave her enjoyment without worrying about processing it or reasoning it. We could watch old musical together and she sang when she was no longer talking. She loved American Idol and would remember her favorite contestants from week to week. Music was the last thing to go. We literally sang her out to heaven the night she left us. If you are experiencing this horrible disease with a family member use music to keep your connections. It is a powerful thing and bless you!
