Valentine’s Day does not have to be expensive to be meaningful and fun.
Shayne and I were visited by our good friends this weekend. What a treat!
Our girls decorated our balcony and we fixed an amazing dinner of mushroom truffle risotto, asparagus, scratch mac and cheese, and juicy steaks. We ate al dente on the balcony. The dinner was peaceful and delicious!
After we listened to salsa music, danced, and played Catan. :
No busy restaurants. No overpriced meals. No lines. Just great food, relaxing atmosphere, fun music, and wonderful company.

The weather was perfect as it has recently rained so the air was fresh and it wasn’t chilly.

Cultivate relationships you can “fold into”.
We find energy for kids and work, but when we are sick or exhausted or sad, sometimes we want to have that safe person who will take care of us.
When we have trust and security, we can find reprieve and even create non sexual intimacy (trust me guys) , this will benefit you too!
Create the life you crave. BE the person who is trustworthy and emotionally mindful so that you can authentically are for your partner.❤️

Here’s an example of a gift from the heart.
Shayne bought me this cookbook knowing how much I liked Downton Abbey and suggested we have a Downton Abbey dinner party.
How fun!🤩
When a person takes time to pay attention and join in their partner’s little joys of life, that is a way to create intimacy.
Now you know…🤓😘

I have GOT to carry gloves with me because I never know when I’ll be tempted to pull weeds. 😂 My daughter taught me a valuable lesson about how our body works and I applied that to giving our will to God.

I’m so grateful for Shayne and his willingness to continue learning in areas that are unfamiliar to him. He leads our family by example and doesn’t run faster than I can. He stays by my side and loves me through the struggle. 💓
P.S. Thanks to those who helped us this summer! Chastains, Chattertons, Schmitts, Webber, and our string children. It takes a village! 🙌🏼👏🏼🥰

Think children being upset with you is disrespectful? I challenge that thought.

Greet Your Child.
I have caught myself issuing requests and "need to do" directives when seeing my children instead of first greeting them.
I paused and realized how that might make them feel that they are only valued for what they can do for me instead of who they are.
So here's my challenge.
1. Catch yourself when you first see your child.
2. Offer them a greeting that illustrates how you feel when you see them.
3. Simply recognize them for who they are instead of issuing orders to do this or that.
4. See if you can greet your child without any other "business", just be glad to see them.
